Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Freshly groomed today! No tracks on L hill or on Hockey hill for some reason. The tracks are nice and hard. Hoping we can try to preserve them and not skate over or herringbone on top of them. They're so perfect. We're back to hard wax! Enjoy!

Quiet evening! Trails have not been groomed and skate area had lots of lumps of fresh snow. Very slow skiing but still lots of fun. Would recommend more wax than I had on (haha).

Skied main loop from A, + D loop. Good news; soft snow covered except for brown ice between B and C, unavoidable in a couple places. Not groomed as of 4 pm Tuesday. Occasional pole plant slippage from hard undersurface.

First tracks in great conditions early Monday morning. Slow going in the fresh snow, but amazingly pretty.

Lightning fast skate deck at Lester this morning. Super fun skiing with a handful of icy patches. The main loops are in great condition. The little extra black hill loops have icy patches at bottom but the rest of the uphills are good. I skipped the playground area so can't comment on that. Beautiful day.

Skate skied all of Lester late afternoon. Everything north of 'A' intersection was skiable but a lot of deep grooves in the deck so balance was an issue in places. I would say the deck did not benefit from all of the skiers so soon after the grooming on Thursday (?) but hard to avoid when the grooming occurs in middle of the day. A few big icy sections near the 'Overlook' heading north, but easy to just ski along the edge. Tracks looked really good (might be better classic skiing).

First time here and thought they did a nice job grooming with the horrible ice. That said, it was still on the icy side. I'm guessing it was last groomed yesterday, and then hardened overnight. Had to walk up one hill. All said, I'd go again in these conditions just to have the opportunity to get out and ski.

Freshly groomed conditions at Lester this afternoon. Skied the big loop and ended up following the groomer for the last 3K (quite a good problem to have). Skate deck was great and the classic tracks looked nice throughout. There were a couple of icy spots, which was expected after the rain and warm temps, but a wonderful ski overall! Under blue skies to boot!

Observation
Hiked (with Ice Trekkers on our boots) the snowmobile trails that snake through Lester at about noon today. The tracks on the ski trails still look well defined but the surface was concrete and I would not ski on it until it gets groomed or gets snow or thaws again.

Amazingly good. Classic skied all the trails except the hockey hill. I would avoid the two loops after F. They both have a creek crossing that's best to avoid. The L hill is sketchy due to the track being messed up so I'd avoid that as well. I had klister covered with hard wax and it worked well.
