4-5 small bare spots, some icy areas at the bottom of two hills, icy uphills-more herringbone used today where I would normally not, some soft spots. If you are picky the trail conditions would not be for you. If you don’t mind a little bit of challenge these are still skiable!

Skied at 11 am with a temp of 41 degrees on skin skis. Had to take the G cutoff as there are some open areas on the south end of the blue loop. Otherwise I had a pretty good ski and the remainder of the trail was in pretty good shape with just a few open areas on the track. With a little luck we may be able to ski until the first day of spring on this challenging year. The sign on the trail said it all.

Great skiing on skin skis at Piedmont. The trail was recently groomed with perfect tracks. Plenty of base with no open spots. The temp was 45 degrees when I started at 11 am. However I had perfect grip and glide on my Fisher skin skis. I remember when the season was pretty much over after the Birkie. With the advent of skin technology and obliging groomers it is becoming my favorite part of the ski season.

Excellent! Felt like mid-January out there. The only hint of bare ground was a dinner-plate sized spot on the climb after the big downhill on the Black Diamond loop. Otherwise, 99% clean snow and wonderful skiing. Tracks appear to still have been a tad saturated when the trail fully froze, so it’s not pure hardwax conditions. Swix KN44 Nero Klister worked beautifully at 30F(-1C). Lots of kids and families out which was great to see.

Fresh-groomed, late winter perfection. This was a nice surprise. Ample snow with deep tracks for a fun classic experience. Hard to imagine it lasting much longer, so don’t waste it.

Not groomed. Wet heavy snow. Not ideal but ski-able and woods are pretty. A few folks have created a track. Some branches on the trail. There was a tree crossing the trail but I moved it.

53 Degrees. Fully covered, no bare spots, well set tracks. Tracks a bit soft but that was to be expected. Did the basic loop. Fun place for a casual ski.

Stop number two today on Tour DuLuth. First time at this nice little classic trail up the hill from Bent Paddle. Skied about noon to 1 pm. Full coverage and good tracks with reasonable kick using Swix red/silver at 37F.

Brand-new grooming this morning, and absolutely perfect conditions. I skied every single trail and thought about how lucky we are to be in Duluth and have so many nice places to ski. Get out there before temps get too warm!

Planned as an easy ski after hard work on Saturday. New snowfall softened the the tracks, and the azure skies made it all beautiful. Temps near freezing and the soft soft snow made the skin skis an easy choice. Skied all the trails. The expert downhills are bit scary as there are mounds of loose snow on them to catch your tips.
