Prime time conditions at Hiawatha for the holiday ski! Skate deck is firm corduroy with a reset classic track. We set a classic track for the skijorers on the multi use trail. Enjoy!

There was good skiing overall. I skied the whole loop. In some places the wind has blown snow over the tracks.

Hiawatha was rolled late Friday night towards the end of the heavy snow. Groomers plan to be out again Saturday morning and night for some great neighborhood skiing!

Hiawatha is back in shape. Super wide skate deck and a rookie groomer’s attempt at classic tracks that are a bit crumbly and too deep in spots. Skijorers, walkers and bikers should feel super special, because we groomed a whole separate trail on the left of the ski trail just for you! Enjoy!

Nighttime skiing on the wide fast ribbon that snakes through the golf course. It was just getting groomed so it should be nice on Wednesday. Great job groomers all season!

We groomed during the snow tonight. Classic track will be set soon. Tonight was all about knocking down the new snow and getting it to bind to the boilerplate. There were some very happy skiers out tonight!

We dropped the teeth on the groomer and scraped up the skate deck. No work on the classic track, which looked icy. There is a fair amount of corduroy on the skate deck, but the teeth we’re no match for the few icy spots. There are avoidable grass sections. This might be the place to ski on the south side on Saturday with Hyland closed.

Skied Hiawatha classic trails and they are pretty bad after two weeks of warmer temps, rain, and melting. There are quite a few bare areas, lots and lots of ice (most of the trails are super icy and very fast), and lots of leaves and other debris on the trails. You can tell that the groomers are definitely doing the best they can, but I won’t be back at Hiawatha until we get some new snow. (I will add: I am 28 weeks pregnant and therefore need to be very cautious about avoiding falls, so the ice may be more of an issue for me than for others).

Had a nice ski just before 9:00 this morning. The skate deck is very fast, but manageable. It does not look beautiful, but it skis just fine. I did not classic ski, but the track was extant throughout the course; it looked as though it might have been icy at least here and there, but it might soften up and yield better grip as the day progresses.

Groomed the trail today, just tickled the skate deck enough to break up the crust. Not a ton of snow to work with, but it is refreshed. Classic tracks are set. Areas of grass exposed and ice patches. Easily avoided, but they exist. First kilometer is certainly the worst of it, and the last 3k is really not bad.
