2022-2023 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The classic was much better (thank you groomers), only a couple of getting bare spots, but no slush- new snow would help. The skate deck was softer than the classic. I was out around noon- definitely a good ski, hills manageable.

Grooming

Beautiful morning at Columbia! Groomed the skate deck and reset the tracks. It's rare that it looks this nice. I marked it as B skis because there are two or three slushy spots poking through, good skis are probably fine though.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Skied the whole course today. About 2" of fresh, heavy snow on the skate deck. A few skiers ahead of me packed it a little for me. Slower, but I could glide. No crazy wandering skis. Ice wasn't a problem, neither was slush. I worked, but I had fun!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed the skate deck this morning. The snow was too hard to reset the classic tracks, so I left them as is; they are mostly in pretty good shape. The snow is holding up in most places, there are some stretches of ice/slush and the water is starting to cut a channel in the low section near Columbia Park, but still skiable and mostly in pretty good shape. Enjoy the spring skiing!

Went out around noon. Mixed conditions. Some slushy spots, but not widespread. Slightly soft in most places. Ruts/grooves, but generally avoidable. Still had a lot of fun! No problems with control or speed.

Groomed and set tracks this afternoon. Course is soft and wet in places, but has quite a bit of good skiing too. Here's to March skiing! Enjoy!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Skied the west side of the trails today. Unfortunately there isn't much left of the classic tracks. Hopefully more snow and another pass at grooming will get them into shape for the last stretch of the season. Thank you groomers!

Fast, crispy, crunchy fun. A few frozen puddles but otherwise stable conditions for skating. The classic skiers had more icy/challenging conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed and set tracks tonight. Tracks are good for most of the course, but thin to non-existent in a couple of spots. There are three sections of slush on the course. There is one under the pines by the clubhouse that may require removing skis for some people. The other two have a little space to ski around. Just use caution. All in all, the course should ski well for March! This is bonus skiing and it still looks pretty good. Enjoy!

We're having some mechanical difficulties at Columbia this week. We thought we had it fixed today, but I was only able to make one lap on the skate deck before having to stop. So half the skate deck is OK, the other half is rutted and crunchy. There are some skier set tracks, but they don't look great. I'm rating it B skis because there are a few low places where water has frozen into hard ice. The good news is there is full coverage and the snow should groom up nicely once our equipment is fixed.
