A big thanks to the North End groomers who used their Saturday morning to provide us with another weekend of great skiing! A, B and C loops groomed for skating. Track set for about 95% of those trails. Other trails are ungroomed. Track-setter was lifted in areas with lots of twigs from the branch clean-up after the ice storm. Skating is probably the preferred technique but the skins worked well. Snow is granular and refrozen so tracks are quite variable ranging from ice to powder. Beautiful spring skiing!

The Cable area got hammered with the recent ice storm. Trail crews are working hand to clear fallen trees and branches. The Tony Wise trail was one of the trails that had been cleared and recently groomed (no classic tracks yet). I still recommend using the skis because of all the embedded branches in the snow deck. The snow is very fast and abrasive with all the ice mixed in. The North End classic loop was un-skiable with all the downed trees, unless you are okay going slow and skiing around the debris. Skiing off trail is also good with 2" of snow over a thick ice layer we weren't breaking through.

Groomed all North End loops and set all new track this morning. North End Classic and Tony Wise completely groomed a couple of days ago, all excellent. C'mon out!

Spring skiing today. Track was pretty warm and sticky but holding up. Good amount of leaf litter in the track, had to step in and out at times. Skied the whole classic loop as well as bits of the Birkie trail. Looks like little was groomed last night.

Blue sky and sunshine. Only a few skiers out. Skied some classic only and skate/classic trails. Terrific conditions.

Skied the North End Classic Trail. Good firm track and full snow coverage across the board. Some uphills are a bit funky to maneuver with a track overlaid by chopped up herringbone. Minimal snowplowing has left the downhills in good shape, however it does become soft quickly on the edge where the snow hasn't been packed by the groomed, so strongly advise trying to stay in the middle of the trail. Minimal leaf/pine needle debris.

Great new snow all day yesterday, 8-12". Main NE trail was rolled twice and groomed all the way around. Looks perfect but it's going to be soft for a few days. We'll keep at it. The Tony Wise trail was rolled but not yet groomed. Hope to have NE Classic ready by the weekend. Lots of wonderful new snow to deal with!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Complete groom of A, B, and C loops this morning, combed skate lane and set new tracks. 90% excellent with a few dirty spots. NE Classic was completely groomed a couple of days ago and I hear good things. Even with all the wonderful snow this past week, we could use a few more inches. Get out and enjoy!

The groomers were out while I was there. Everything has been rolled and most was groomed for skating. Classic tracks has been set through the B cutoff. Everything was quite soft. Sounds like they will keep grooming through tomorrow.

Skied the 12k North End loop Sunday morning under a crystal clear sky with 3.5 inches of new snow. Tracks had been set overnight and were mostly solid, a few leafy patches were easily avoided. Skate deck looked good if a bit soft. North End Classic trail had not been groomed. Fun to be out on real snow!
