Notes

Very scenic with views of the Flambeau River and a heavily timbered landscape. Portions of the upper loop and cutoffs on the east side of the lower loop are more challenging. There is a three-sided shelter on the west side of the upper loop.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
After packing and rolling yesterday on all loops, I was able to groom the southern half of the trail system. Short Swing, Squirrel Tail, Rim Creek, and Pinery Grade have all been cut twice and groomed/tracked. There are a few slushy areas with some ruts so use caution. For the most part, these loops are in good condition. A little more snow and they will be in great shape. The alternate loops off of Rim Creek are packed but not groomed. In the northern portion Snuss and Pelican loops have too much standing water and slush to get the machine back there to groom. These loops will need to freeze down more after packing yesterday. There are even bare ground areas from the water washing and melting away the snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
All loops were packed today after the recent snow. The trails are extremely soft and with the warm temperatures they are in poor condition. Many areas have standing water and after pulling the roller with the UTV, some spots have deep ruts in the slush. It will need to freeze very hard to get the water and slush frozen and packed down. I attempted to pull the groomer today but with the wet heavy snow it just was too much and it did not turn out well. I will try again in the morning to groom a loop or two and see how it turns out. There is also a lot of low hanging branches and debris in the trail after the recent storm.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Trail conditions are very poor after the large amount of rain and high temperatures the last few days. I have not groomed or rolled since Dec 20. I will be getting the grooming machine back today. Due to the timing and current freezing rain/snow that is hitting us, it may not be fully groomed until after the New Year.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Our grooming machine is still being worked on as it is still having mechanical issues. I was able to get out early this morning and roll the northern portion of the trail system which hasn't been packed at all this season so far. The base is thick but soft. Once I get our groomer back the trails will be in great shape. All trails have been packed now and are open to skiing with the exception of Ridge Run. That small segment will remain closed for the season due to heavy storm damage. Use caution on some of the hills as the snowmobile I used to roll this morning left some ruts. As long as everything goes to plan, the trails will be groomed before the weekend following Christmas. Thank you for your patience.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The southern half of the trail system has had the trees removed and has been packed. The northern half of the system has not been packed yet. Our grooming machine broke down again today while attempting to clear trees. No estimated time of completion, it will all depend on when we can get our machine back.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Due to mechanical failures with our grooming machine, the trails have not been packed or groomed yet. We are hoping to have the machine back sometime early this week and plan to have the trails at least packed down before the weekend. We will update conditions again once we resume normal operations.
