Great conditions after another about 4 inches of light fluffy snow. Chose to classic expecting the skate deck would be soft and from what I could see that appeared to be the case. I'm sure it will firm up soon and as of about 5:00 pm there were still first track rights to be had on the outer loops.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The entire system was rolled and groomed today. Finished as it was getting dark. Imagine it could firm up overnight and be in great condition for the extended new years weekend. Enjoy!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Pretty good conditions out on the classic trail. All tracks were set. A few twigs and leaves but darn few and easy to avoid. It snowed lightly during our entire ski so the skate track looked like it would required a little more effort to make it work. Fine day to be out and definitely worth the drive.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Pretty fabulous skiing with full-depth classic tracks! The couple drawbacks are a few thin spots in the tracks and a stick popping up here and there. Also, some folks have walked on the trails closer to the main park. Feel free to let them know that's a no-no of you check it out. You won't see a fee box, but trail donations are welcome via paypal on the Town of Barnes website.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The entire trail system was groomed today. Conditions are pretty good. Only a couple small areas of dirty snow. With a thin base there are areas that aren't level. Was able to set full depth classic tracks. If it firms up overnight it should be even better. Thanks to volunteers who mowed the trails and removed down trees prior to snowfall this season. The result is good conditions even with only a couple inches of base.

Fresh grooming and classic tracks when we arrived. We skied the easy classic loop twice. The was great and the temperature was perfect.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skate skied on freshly groomed trails. All trails also had tracks set and tracks appeared to be in good shape. Skate deck was in great condition given the early season snow conditions. I used my B skis, because that's what I had, but if I'd only had my good skis I wouldn't have felt bad about using them.

Afternoon

[ Rock skis ]
Thank goodness for early season snow and fresh air during a pandemic! Yesterday's sloppy white stuff covered areas of bare ground but toppled some trees. It makes for a gorgeous view - for adventurous skiers. It'd help a bunch if fellow skiers could pitch fallen branches/limbs off the trail. Hurry - skiable conditions won't last long.

[ Rock skis ]
Busted out the rock skis for a few classic Ks at Tomahawk Lake Park. Several other skiers beat us to it, which was lovely to see on the improved trail network. Fall brushing and mowing resulted in a relatively skiable trail with some spots of bare dirt but very little rocks and debris.
