Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trail Base Depth: 7 - 8 inches. Snowfall Last 24 hours: 7.5 inches. Season Snowfall Total: 37 inches. The groomers have been out on the trails addressing the variable precipitation conditions we have experienced with these last 2 snow events. All trails at Pincushion were rolled Monday night in anticipation of a final groom on Tuesday. We don't normally groom trails when the snow is wet or precipitation is occurring but falling temps will allow for good grooming conditions during the day on Tuesday. We expect to have all trails fully groomed for classic and skate by Tuesday late in the day. We'll have great skiing for New Year's Day. See you on the trails.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied Snowman, Lynn's and Pincushion Loops this afternoon. All trails had been rolled but not groomed or tracked. Had to ski in the middle of trail on the snowmobile track as the roll ridges were frozen hard. Difficult but still nice to be out. When the snow stops and grooming completed it should be sweet.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Snow conditions are a bit crusty and icy at the moment, and there's a fair amount of pine needle debris. Classic tracks were fine, and skate deck was groomed. We heard the Pincushion Mountain loop was worse than the others due to icy ridges in both the skate deck and classic track, so we stuck to the green trails. The north shore could definitely use some new snow to freshen things up but at least it's not raining here!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Base: 6-8 inches. New Snow: A dusting. The Pincushion Trails are in great shape for the upcoming weekend. All trails are groomed for classic and skating, and the skating deck received a once over during the day today. The snow should set-up well overnight for some good skiing over the weekend.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
A bunch of fresh dry snow was rolled in today so the trail was soft and no tracks set yet, but it was a beautiful day in the woods! We were told they will probably run the Piston Bully tonight so Sunday's ski might be perfect.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Base 3 to 6 inches. 3 to 4 inches of dry snow fell on Monday. All trails groomed today. New classic tracks set on most trails. Expect to encounter soft surface conditions in a few places around the system.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Base: 4-5 inches. New Snow: 2 inches. The best skiing at Pincushion this season is on tap for Saturday and Sunday. All trails are groomed for both classic and skate with the exception of Pincushion Mountain Trail. That trail is skiable but has some exposed rocks and ice that has the potential to damage equipment. The skate deck is beginning to level out and classic tracks cut-in nicely. Colder temperatures tonight will cool the snowpack and should set everything up nicely for the weekend. See you on the trails.

Official grooming report from Thanksgiving day:
If you would like to give thanks by spending a little time on the ski trail, that can happen. I'm grateful that we have sponsors, members and volunteers who care enough about our trail system to support us. I'm grateful that we have one of the best ski trail systems in Minnesota.
I'm thankful that we received 2-3" of snow from this last system. East and West Overlook, Snowmen, Lynn's Loop, North Advanced and Canyon Curves have all been rolled and combed. The trails are wind-scoured so there are areas of bare ice. We were not able to set classic track because the previous tracks are frozen in hard and we don't have enough snow to work with yet.
I'm thankful that I can enjoy the trails on Thanksgiving. All of you and your families have a happy one.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
We received 4 to 8 inches of new snow with this past storm. We will be opening trails as we are able. There should be some good skiing this weekend. The following trails are tracked and combed for both classic and skate skiing: West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowmen and Lynn's Loop. North Advanced Trail will be opened in a few days. The skate deck will not be smooth this early in the season, and warm temps and sunshine will break down classic tracks. But we're skiing before Thanksgiving, so enjoy some time on the trail.
