Excellent conditions! Despite warmish temperatures, the snow is perfect. Conditions were fast, yet controllable. I skied classic, but the skating looked even better.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied all the trails. Grooming was good, skate deck was a little soft but glide was good. Bumpiness was mostly smoothed out. Lower pincushion could use some more snow as there were a few dirt patches in the middle of the skate lane, easily avoidable. Tracks looked well formed and not at all glazed. Nice day.

Grooming report from the Pincushion grooming team: Packed base: 5 - 6", New snow in last 24 hours: 4.5", Snow on the ground: 12". All the Green and Blue Trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing. Skating lanes were groomed for a firmer surface. Skiing is very good to excellent. Black Trails were rolled and will be groomed for a firm skating track and tracked tonight.

Good coverage although enough sticks/debris and a couple thin spots to warrant B skis. Classic tracks throughout the system looked great. I didn't see a trail without them set. Skate deck was pretty lumpy with the minimal snow so far.

Classic skied at Pincushion today and conditions were quite good. Kudos to the groomers on a fantastic job after the heavy snowfall and 70mph winds. Looks like there were quite a few down trees and large branches that had been cleared off the trails. Coverage is pretty good, but best to still use your B skis as there are a few sticks and other debris poking up here and there.

The deck is still a little soft but no complaints about the classic tracks. Full coverage on outlook and snowman. Pincushion loop has no tracks set yet.

In about 2 inches of fresh snow, I skied the open classic tracks on Northern Advanced, Canyon curves, Lynn's Loop and Snowman, both twice. No bare spots, tracks were well formed. Skate deck was a little bumpy but quite nice. Winter has arrived on the north shore!

3 - 5" of snow cover the trails. The West Overlook and Upper and Lower Snowman loops have been groomed and packed this week. Classic tracks are set on West Overlook. North Advanced and Pincushion Mtn. loop have been rolled. Four to six inches of new snow since Wednesday. Grooming is ongoing and more loops such as North Advanced and Pincushion Mtn. have been rolled. The ice flows are covered up.

[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
I skied the West Overlook and Upper/Lower Snowman loops from 10 am to 12. West Overlook and Upper Snowman are still the best for skiing as the snow was still quite powdery. Lower Snowman does have a 50 meter long ice flow on it, but you can easily ski to the sides of it and avoid the flow. By noon the temp's were climbing and some of the southern facing hills were getting a bit soft, but still quite skiable. Those parts of the trail in the shade were holding up quite well.

Great Skating on West Overlook, Upper Snowman and Lower Snowman loops. I used my better training skis and had no issues. Fast hardpacked powder on approximately 4 k of trails. You could easily classic ski on the surface too; no tracks have been set. Some lumpiness in the trails and an occasional ice flow too.
