Pincushion is in excellent shape. Skied all the trails, coverage is good, tracks well formed, Swix VR30 worked well. Skate deck looked firm in spite of the new snow. Plenty of grip out of the tracks as well. Good day.

Winter wonderland at Pincushion. We woke up early to the sound of groomers working the trail outside our Pincushion Mt Haus room, and were treated to some amazing conditions post breakfast. Tracks were set, kick was fine, and snow hung delicately from all the pine trees. Light years better than Friday's ski.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Grooming Report: New snow in last 36 hours: 1". Trail base: 2 - 6 ". Snow on the ground: 8 - 11". The skating lane was re-groomed over the entire system. The classic tracks are windblown in places, but overall still good. Several wind fallen trees and large branches were removed, but high winds, so ski with caution.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Pincushion Mountain Loop as well as the easier loops this morning. Tracks were freshly groomed and firm, setting up quite nicely. A few spots had a bit of dirt or pine needles, but they were few and far between. Kudos to the groomers for the great work keeping these trails skiable especially given the poor weather lately!

Re-groomed after thaw/freeze. Conditions are very good with packed powder skate lanes and tracks. There are a few dirt spots, but easily avoided.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skated all the trails, deck is firm, classic tracks looked solid. Some spots were starting to get soft in the sun with temps above freezing, but most of system was firm and fast, not yet icy. Coverage is starting to thin out with brown showing thru in spots at all elevations, but easily avoidable.

Very nice skate skiing at Pincushion this morning. All trails were groomed last night, which made for a very fast but edge able skate lane. Classic tracks were all reset and looked nice also. Still recommending B skis as there are still a few dirt spots out there, but overall very good skiing.

Classic skied entire system this afternoon in temps starting around 34 degrees and ending around 30. Dusting of new snow and warm temps made waxing a bit tricky. Grip tape was too sticky so I switched skis to a pair with Swix VR45 on them. This worked fine until temps dropped and tracks were glazed. From that point, double poling worked the best. Coverage is good except the lower Pincushion loop where there is some dirt showing thru. Therefore B skis if doing that section.
