Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed skate lanes at noon. Lowered the cutters and skimmed off the humps and filled in the dips a bit. Tracks in good shape so did not mess with them today. This is a Grant-in-Aid trail so a state ski pass is required.

First time out on this trail. Trails were groomed this morning. My friend classic skied and I skate skied. Tracks set well. Snow in the tracks was good and fast. I found the skate deck on the soft side and struggled to get a good speed and rhythm on the trail. Maybe wait another day before bringing out the skate skis, and stick with classic if you are heading out today.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
3 inches of new, wet, sticky snow. Made 2 passes with 6 ft roller on all skate lanes since snow would not flow thru the ginzu groomer with track setter up. Set track on all trail segments with ginzu. All trails should be firm and fast once it cools overnight.

Even though the trails were well used the classic track was in great shape. It was deep, firm and fast with good waxless climbing grip. Inner trails were better due to reduced traffic. Considering the lack of recent new snow the conditions were very good.

Brainerd Nordic Ski Team did a classic and skate loops in the morning. According to S. H., " The trails are good!". No bare patches and just a few spots to lift your skis in the classic tracks. Probably the best conditions in the area. Nicely set classic tracks (be prepared to step out in spots to avoid leaves or a few patches of ground). Skate lane is good. A cautious, observant skier can use good skis. The skiers are very glad this system is open this year! 30+ skiers using the system this morning!

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Reset track on all interior classic trail segments. Regroomed the middle cut-across trail for skating and set new track. Did not touch the outer loop track since it was in decent shape from last Saturday nights grooming nor did I do much on the outer loop skate lane. I kicked some snow on thin spots here and there on the outer loop track.

Outer loop still in very good shape after last Saturday nights re-grooming. Skate deck looked good and firm. Some debris in tracks (less than 5% of track). Just a few spots in track with the ground showing. My plans are to re-track the interior segments and touch up some of the skate lanes on Friday.
