2020-2021 season
Reports 8 to 17 of 31    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The re-grooming done on Friday was holding up very well on Saturday. (Thanks Bryan!) Striding tracks were solid, and skating deck looked good. There was some debris on the tracks (mostly leaves; a few dirty patches), but overall the trail was in good shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
1/2 inch of snow Thursday. Reset track on inner classic segments. Fair results due to cold and very firm deck. Groomed all skate lanes and produced nice corduroy with the light snow. Ripped up the outer loop track and reset it with good results.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Re-groomed the outer loop skating lane in 7 degree temp. The small, frozen snow clods did not smooth out as well as I liked when the cutting knives were too deep, so I raised them to just skim the surface and is was better. I covered, with snow, the two exposed rocks in the track that were mentioned in a previous report. Back to good skis.

One tricky spot on the outer loop coming into the home stretch: shortly after taking a right onto the Ken Joas trail, there is a tiny spot where the tracks have bottomed out and bare ground is exposed. Plan ahead to leave the tracks as you go past the sign and you’ll see the spot, then get back in and enjoy. If not for this spot, I would have rated it good skis. Otherwise this trail system is in excellent condition for both techniques. Was windy today and saw some tree branches blown onto the skate deck. Stay alert and you’ll be fine.

The grooming done on Thursday was still holding up very well this afternoon. There are more leaves (etc) on the trail now, but the tracks are still deep and solid. Skating deck also looked solid, although a bit rough. I'm glad the sunshine encouraged me to brave the cold.

The trail is in great shape, freshly groomed. The skate lane is very nice, very little debris, pretty flat for the most part given how little snow is on the ground. Classic track is perfect. Thanks to the groomers for taking care of this great trail system.

Re-groomed all skating lanes and reset outer loop track after a touch of freezing drizzle overnight. Only flurries now, no new snow.
Inside tracks were in good shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed skate lanes at noon. Lowered the cutters and skimmed off the humps and filled in the dips a bit. Tracks in good shape so did not mess with them today. This is a Grant-in-Aid trail so a state ski pass is required.
