2020-2021 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After getting about 1.5" new snow, Adam groomed trails with the PB100. There are still spots of dirty-looking snow but it's mostly chewed-up leaves mixed in with the snow. Skate lanes were soft but beautiful. Tracks were excellent! Great place to ski if you like a wide variety of terrain, forest types, and very few other skiers.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All 17km of trails are groomed and open. Using B skis, I had a good ski outing this morning. There are quite a few thin spots and some small rocks and dirt poking up in the skate lanes (I groomed them on Monday and had the knives on the ginzu down a bit too low) but the classic tracks still are firm, clean, and very good.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All of the trails were groomed with the PistenBully today (17k), including the trail that connects to the Rib lake trail system. Absolutely beautiful, but very soft conditions. Should be excellent after a cold night or two. Some of the trails got pretty beat up and the skate lanes need a refresher groom.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Adam groomed most of the trails Saturday morning (not rollercoaster or Gaiter - rough spots on those two_with the PB100),even setting tracks for the first time this year. Snow depth is not great but good enough to use good skis. Also regroomed the trails used for the Hinderbinder race so they are fine, except a short stretch under the hemlocks on the Corker trail.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All of the trails were groomed with the PistenBully today but no tracks set yet. It looks very good for skating but it's very soft and thin. You could use your good skis but B skis might be a better choice. For the Hinderbinder race tomorrow - It will be a 4k loop that uses the lake and an adjoining trail and the lower part of the ski hill. Your good skis should be fine. The race will be 4 laps around the 4k course.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
There are about 15km of trails open and ski-able (with your B skis) but the base is very thin and a bit bumpy. No classic tracks yet, so the skating is better than striding.

Skied fine today. Avoid thin areas and take care in rougher areas. No new scratches on skis. Slider and jammer sections no longer cross.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Most of the loops are groomed and open (not Rollercoaster). No classic tracks set yet; not enough snow depth for that. Your B skis should be okay if you ski a little carefully. Some of the trails could use a new groom.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
All of the trails except Rollercoaster (so about 15k) were groomed with the new (to us) Pisten Bully 100 on Wednesday. I skied (classic, even though there are no tracks set ) them today and was pleasantly surprised; it was better than I expected. I used rock skis but didn't add any major new scratches to the bases. The PB does a nice job of smoothing rough spots out. We need several more inches of snow before we can set tracks. B skis would be okay but I recommend rock skis. This begins a new era of trail grooming at Forest Springs; I did most of the grooming for 34 years but, with the new equipment, Adam is taking over and it will be great!
