Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good conditions on green loop as was able to cut ice and tracked green loop around Pallette Lake yesterday. Was only able to cut and level the outer loop around Escanaba Lake with more snow predicted and time spent cutting brush from ice storm. All ice cut off trail but no tracks yet on outer loop and area along lake on shortest loop.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Poor to fair conditions exist due to above freezing temperatures then rain today. Weather will determine when we recondition to cut ice and make back into tracks. Too bad as trails were good, heading toward very good last week. I will update when we recondition or receive additional snow.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good track conditions, firm base and 2-3 inches of new dry snow Sunday night. Mixed new and old snow with cutters on groomer with positive results, best track of the year so far. Tracks most likely will hold up well, if subzero temperatures limit the number of skiers.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We had a wonderful ski this morning. It was -1 when started and warmed up to 1 when we finished. We skied the 14k red loop. It was groomed sometime last week but it looked like it didn't get to much traffic on it during the cold weekend. Tracks had about 2" of fresh snow in them which slowed it down a bit. But that was ok it gave us a chance to admire the scenery of this true Northwoods wilderness type trail. No bare spots or debris that we could see the new snow covered it up. Stopped at the shelter and filled up the bird feeders with the sunflower seed they had stowed away there. The chickadees (about 6) pounced on the feeders before we could even finish filling them. I think they said thanks as we skied away.

Overall good conditions with some scattered oak leaf debris. Fluffy snow in big flakes should cover debris. Very few skiers and very scenic trail with firm track.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Fair to good conditions. Entire trail would be all good, but a few thin spots under the pines yet. Mostly fully formed track but some partial, but very skiable. Some debris like oak leaves in track but only in a few areas. Fisher and weasel tracks observed.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed and tracked all loops on Tuesday. Good conditions with about 1/2 inch new snow falling right after grooming. Thin spots but no bare spots and good well formed tracks. 11 inches of snow on picnic table near Research Station but varies along the trail. Three to four inches new snow on Sunday night followed by rain has formed a good solid base and firm tracks.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Packed all loops and set track where snow depth was sufficient (about 75% of trail) today. Thin base and lots of debris in areas, but better conditions than expected. Overall fair early season conditions.
