Notes

This trail is very hilly, rolling and scenic. It winds around five different lakes, through stands of maple, aspen and balsam. There are a couple fairly steep hills requiring intermediate skiing skills. A shelter with a fire ring is located on the trail.

Groomed and tracked green and yellow loops on Tuesday. Excellent condition. Outer loop around Escanaba Lake was still in excellent condition so did not re set track. Steady temperatures in the teens at night and 20's during the day with very little wind this week, so no breakdown of tracks or drifting. Checked tracks today and still in excellent shape so did not re-track.

Excellent conditions. On days like today Escanaba is one of the best trails anywhere. Thank you for outstanding grooming!

We got an additional 4" of now Friday night/Saturday. Groomed and set track on all loops this morning. Very good conditions. There is a light mist currently which might cause tracks to get icy. Near/above freezing temperatures can change conditions quickly.

Firm track and pole plant. Warmer air temperatures so track may be more like spring conditions. Track may be fast in the morning and slower in the afternoon. Great shape right now. Stepped off trail and snow in some spots is over 30 inches deep in the woods.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions, groomed and tracked all loops with fresh dry snow from recent snowfalls to mix in. Always windy along Pallette Lake so that area may re-drift but only a short stretch of 1/4 mile is affected. Very scenic out there plus a very good firm base and extra snow along the side to mix in for great track in future weeks.

Good conditions 6-7 inches of new snow last night, leveled and tracked all today. Very close to excellent conditions but not sure how firm tracks will be after multiple of skiers. Plenty of snow on the sides and no bare spots. Over 2 feet of snow in the woods.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent conditions with firm pole plant and very little debris. Cold this morning so slow, dry tracks for glide. No bare spots but wind may cause drifting along Pallette lake shore and Lost Canoe lake Ridge. 20 inches of snow on the snow gauge at Trout lake. Best track of the season so far due to very little debris, fully formed track and firm pole plant. We will update conditions and groom again over the weekend if necessary.

Good conditions with 1.5 inches new snow last night to mix in with old track. Full formed tracked except under pines but still 3/4 formed there. Still some leaves in track. Very scenic 18 inches of snow on the ground.

Primo conditions at a balmy 10F. Kudos to the groomers for firm and well maintained single track. Like previous reports, I enjoy being able to control my speed on the downs with the track lifted. Also thought the resets on the other side were thoughtfully and tastefully well done, the mark of experience and attention to detail was evident.

Wow! What a gas! We skied the red loop and it was amazing. This one of the best classic only trails in the Northwoods. Groomers report was spot on, kudos to the groomer. The red trail to the shelter is like a roller coaster ride, up, down, up, down and very twisty. The groomer does not track the downhills-yeah! It is also very scenic with a very narrow track through the woods. Red loop from shelter back was not regroomed but still in good shape. Not has hilly with long straight stretches to work on technique. Again one of the funniest rides we have had this winter.
