Notes

This trail is very hilly, rolling and scenic. It winds around five different lakes, through stands of maple, aspen and balsam. There are a couple fairly steep hills requiring intermediate skiing skills. A shelter with a fire ring is located on the trail.

Primo conditions at a balmy 10F. Kudos to the groomers for firm and well maintained single track. Like previous reports, I enjoy being able to control my speed on the downs with the track lifted. Also thought the resets on the other side were thoughtfully and tastefully well done, the mark of experience and attention to detail was evident.

Wow! What a gas! We skied the red loop and it was amazing. This one of the best classic only trails in the Northwoods. Groomers report was spot on, kudos to the groomer. The red trail to the shelter is like a roller coaster ride, up, down, up, down and very twisty. The groomer does not track the downhills-yeah! It is also very scenic with a very narrow track through the woods. Red loop from shelter back was not regroomed but still in good shape. Not has hilly with long straight stretches to work on technique. Again one of the funniest rides we have had this winter.

Good conditions. Cut leveled and tracked the green and yellow loops as the blue and red loops around Escanaba lake were still in good shape. Some debris in track otherwise trail would be in very good condition. 15-18 inches of snow in the woods. Plenty of snow to work with and still very scenic with snow from previous wet heavy snows still clinging to the trees. There is a great base so really good skiing conditions.

Cold morning, all trails well groomed and tracks were firm. Plenty of dry snow and very little leaf litter. Cold weather made the trails a little slow but all in all great fun.

Firm track and pole plant. Good conditions, some perfect track, some blocky track but will not affect skiing. Some wind today so expect drifting in regular spots along Pallette and ridge along Lost Canoe.

Tracks are in good shape overall. There are stretches of very good track and some fair sections with tracks not fully formed. No one in the parking lot when I left, so tracks should set up well. 15 plus inches in the woods yet so plenty of snow. Some debris in track in a few small sections. Good overall.

The Yellow, (short loop) and the Green loop, which is around Pallette Lake have been cleared and are tracked. We received 7-10 inches of new snow yesterday. The track I was able to set was soft due to powder over slush and not wanting to pull up that slush. I think once set up, and skied on a few times it will be in good condition. The outer loop may be another day just to clear. No hiking please as the base will be soft and easily damaged. Thank You.

Cut ice off the green and yellow loops resulting in some good tracks. The longest loop around Escanaba Lake has fully formed tracks but still has an ice layer on the bottom of the track so that segment is in fair condition. Expect oak leaves and some pine needle debris until we receive new snow. Still 12 -14 inches of snow on undisturbed picnic tables.

Tracked this morning with good conditions. I was able to cut ice and mix with new snow resulting in some good track. There is debris in the form of oak leaves and pine needles that came down with the melted snow clumps hung up in trees. Still plenty of snow for tracking and no bare spots.
