Notes

Mcnaughton Lake Trail follows old logging roads around three lakes and has very few steep hills. It is very scenic and an excellent trail for a beginner. A five and a half mile loop is groomed for skating. There is a shelter with a fire ring on the trail.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied the green loop this morning. Simply beautiful. The classic tracks were well set, deep, and free of leaves. There had been some snowshoers, hikers, and dogs, but fortunately they did not disturb the tracks. Such a lovely spot. Perfect for beginners. Thank you!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I first skate skied the red loop. I go out and back and they a second time out and back to the trail hut. That adds up to 10 kilometers. There were about two inches of fresh snow on top of the skate deck but that just slowed things slightly. The skate deck was nice a level and glide was good. I finished up classic skiing the blue and yellow loops for another 17 - 18 kilometers. The classic track was firm, deep and speed was good. Overall conditions I would rate as very good.
