Skated the full system including the new northwest prairie section. The east deck was pretty firm with some grabby grooves, but not total hardpack and was starting to ski in by midday. Prairie loop and football field were more cushy and had nice coverage. There were a few thin spots similar to other natural trails right now. Thanks volunteers for maintaining and improving these trails!

Pretty poor conditions here overall. The skate deck is all torn up and on most of the trails there isn't even a classic track to be seen. I continue to be disappointed by the upkeep of the trails right around my area (Irondale trails and Vadnais/Sucker Lake) compared to trails say at Elm creek, Theo Wirth, or Como.

Some of the best conditions of the year at Irondale for skating and classic. The prairie loop was excellent, as were the trails in the woods. There were few if any bare spots. Hats off to Gary Medin for his outstanding work grooming the trails!

What a great day for skiing. The trail is in good shape. Classic tracks are worn in areas, but the snow is just right so it is easy to compensate. Great job and many thanks to the groomer for taking care of this trail! What a lovely, fun, and fast course with intelligently designed hills and turns.

Really nice conditions after Gary’s deft touch with the groomer this morning. Classic tracks throughout except for the new segment. Very few leaves and no sticks or bare spots. I classic skied. Should be great for skate tomorrow after it sets up a bit.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Finally enough snow to set tracks. So groomed and tracked this morning. Could use good skis in most places, B skis on the new addition. Walkers also appear to really like the new addition to the trail, but maybe the cold will keep them away a little. One can always hope.

Great skating! The field is in good shape, while the wooded trail has some soft debris poking through. While the new extension has been groomed, it's hairy; rock skis recommended.

Beautiful sunny day for our first ski of the year! A bit soft, not tracked for classic quite yet but a well packed skate deck. New loop in the prairie is a great addition.

I classic skied the whole loop. It is groomed; no tracks set. Still a little soft as one would expect from 6-8" overnight. A few sticks poking up through the snow in the lower lying sections. Thank you to the groomers for getting this beautiful trail ready so quickly!

Skied the new trail loop. 1+km loop was added on the west side of rice creek. In contrast to the east side of the creek, the new loop is mostly flat. Trail crew was out connecting a final little section. Thank you for this great addition!
