Fantastic skate ski this afternoon. Freshly groomed, nice even deck with a soft corduroy layer on top throughout so easy to get an edge. No icy spots or significant debris. A few small dirty patches on the two way trail and new loop but easily avoidable. Can use good skis easily especially on the older trails, excellent coverage. Lucky to have these trails - great work grooming on a thin base!

In a winter where seemingly no snowfall has exceeded a few inches, we've finally hit an adequate base depth. Or good grooming just makes it seem that way. Tracks set on the majority of the course. The fresh snow is soft, but not miserably slow where skied in. Good skis would be fine if you keep your eyes up, but a few dirt spots on the marsh extension are showing through. Thanks to the unknown hero cleaning up the riffraff in the woods.

This is a great place to ski on a windy day, mostly sheltered in the woods. Nice corduroy on the prairie loop skate deck. Classic tracks are shallow on the wooded loop, no tracks on the prairie loop. Skate deck has good coverage overall, with a few thin/dirty spots near the athletic fields. B skis recommended due some debris by the small bridge as well as scattered sticks and leaves.

This was my first time skiing at Irondale and I am very impressed with the extensive trail system and high quality grooming. Such a gem to have all those hills to train on. Thanks everyone that created such an awesome resource!

Skated the full system including the new northwest prairie section. The east deck was pretty firm with some grabby grooves, but not total hardpack and was starting to ski in by midday. Prairie loop and football field were more cushy and had nice coverage. There were a few thin spots similar to other natural trails right now. Thanks volunteers for maintaining and improving these trails!

Pretty poor conditions here overall. The skate deck is all torn up and on most of the trails there isn't even a classic track to be seen. I continue to be disappointed by the upkeep of the trails right around my area (Irondale trails and Vadnais/Sucker Lake) compared to trails say at Elm creek, Theo Wirth, or Como.

Some of the best conditions of the year at Irondale for skating and classic. The prairie loop was excellent, as were the trails in the woods. There were few if any bare spots. Hats off to Gary Medin for his outstanding work grooming the trails!

What a great day for skiing. The trail is in good shape. Classic tracks are worn in areas, but the snow is just right so it is easy to compensate. Great job and many thanks to the groomer for taking care of this trail! What a lovely, fun, and fast course with intelligently designed hills and turns.

Really nice conditions after Gary’s deft touch with the groomer this morning. Classic tracks throughout except for the new segment. Very few leaves and no sticks or bare spots. I classic skied. Should be great for skate tomorrow after it sets up a bit.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Finally enough snow to set tracks. So groomed and tracked this morning. Could use good skis in most places, B skis on the new addition. Walkers also appear to really like the new addition to the trail, but maybe the cold will keep them away a little. One can always hope.
