Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Made a few passes on the skate deck this morning and came out tonight to level and widen and reset the classic track. Track varies in depth with the snow but should set up for the morning. The polar vortex snow is harsh, dry and not terribly cooperative but with a little extra time and effort I think we have it as good as we can right now. I expect a lot of skiers this weekend that have been stuck inside with the cold so we will keep things in shape for all to enjoy with the warmer weather.

Firsthand: Classic

Good conditions with the new fresh dusting of snow. Classic tracks are ok on the outer loop, but largely washed out on the inner loop. Good snow - no ice. It looked like better skating. We may try that tomorrow. Very nice to have more moderate temps.

Skate deck was recently groomed but the classic trails are washed out or gone in many places and needs to be regroomed ASAP.

Smooth skate deck and tired classic tracks. Glide at 10 degrees on recent grooming was way more fun than on wind-slab at -2 yesterday! That Monday evening groom was most appreciated.

I skied at 3 pm. The deck was firm and fast. The classic tracks looked a bit washed out but skiers looked to be enjoying striding anyway. Thanks, groomers!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The skate deck was groomed Monday night. Hopefully with a little warmer temps we can get folks back out and skiing this week. Coverage is good, classic tracks are a little beat up, but will wait for a little warmer weather to look at resetting them.

Classic both loops, tracks are mostly windswept, slow but no thin spots. Washouts on some but certainly not all corners and hills. I'd say the outer loop is nicer, especially on the west side. Hard to tell when the last grooming was done with old man winter's dry sandy snow fingers grasping at everything.

Very nice skate ski at the U this morning. The deck is in excellent shape. Freshly groomed late yesterday or early today (thanks to the groomers for braving the cold). Used Fastwax extreme white and had a surprisingly fast ski for 2 above. Used my second skis because there are some sticks, but good skis are fine if you're mindful.

Trail in good shape. Some faster skating sections where wind has scrubbed snow down to the icier substrate. Slower where that spindrift sloughs in, like whoaa. Good as can be overall. Something seems to be wrong with the heat though. Not working.

Both classic and skate trails on the golf course were well-groomed and in good condition. There weren't any oak leaves out on the course today!
