Skied at 2:30 pm. The skate deck was groomed but soft. Still fun! The inner loop dead-ended. Maybe that will be fixed soon (or has been already). Thank you to the groomers, who do such a nice job at this venue. Also, just a note that you can buy daily or annual passes online.

Classic skied the inner and outer loops at 3:00 PM. I found the classic track disappointing. As far as I could tell, they had not been reset since the recent snow. I must have missed a downhill turn on the inner loop: the grooming actually dead-ended. I hope the groomers will reset the classic track soon.

Skated the trails around noon today. Except for some big divots and also rough spots on the inner loop, the skate deck was in good shape. Looked like the classic tracks were hit or miss. Groomer was out when I left at 1:30pm. The inner loop has changed shape slightly after the last snow, and now doubles back on itself. Maybe today's grooming will correct that.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Classic track is skied in track which exists for about half the outside loop which is the best. Conditions were good where there was a track, no bare spots. Hopefully a classic track will be set.

Very good conditions for classic around noon. Outer loop had been groomed and tracked, the inner loop track had been recently groomed. Minimal ice, very enjoyable, you could easily snowplow the hills if needed. Nice to see the Les Bolstad g.c. staff out skiing (way too go Greg!). Lots of vehicles in the parking lot. Thanks grooming staff for making the course skiable.

Skied at 11:00 AM today in brilliant sunshine. The classic tracks on the inner loop were shallow or washed out, but the outside loop was fantastic, so we just skied there lap after lap. Couldn't tell you what kick wax I used, but I can tell you that it was gone by the time I finished :) The groomers, at least for classic skiers on that outside loop, deserve high praise for doing so much with so little.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Made a late night run to capitalize on the temperature drop and clean up after the race this afternoon. Reset the classic track on the outer loop with variable results. Skate deck is wide, flat, hard, fast and fresh for whomever finds it in the morning. Thanks to those that are paying their trail fees, we are putting in a lot of time to give you the best conditions we can.

Grooming Scheduling

Wanted to provide a heads up that there will be a high school race on site from 2-5pm both today and on Friday. The course is not closed for these events, but there could be a bit more skier traffic than normal. Grooming plans: Skate deck will be groomed mid day today. Happy skiing.

Found remarkably good conditions at the U of M golf course on Thursday morning. Groomers have done an outstanding job to make a wide, level, clean skate deck out of the little snow available. Looked like a relatively deep and solid classic track throughout ~90% of the trail. I was on rock skis in the dark, but expect you can safely use a better pair in daylight. Outer + inner loops = a full 5km. Trail passes available at Finn Sisu down the street.

Hard packed, but quite doable. Ski tracks are in good shape. No bare spots, though a few areas are washed out. Despite meltdown and refreeze, the groomer has been able to keep these trails very useable. Mid afternoon there is no sign of melting. Overall, not bad considering the conditions.
