12 inches snow and rain free here. JC started packing trails Sunday night and groomed and tracked Trout Lake trails Monday afternoon. About 3/4” light fluffy snow in the tracks overnight. Doan Lake trails were packed and groomed this morning. South Trout parking lot was about 20% plowed when I finished at noon. Room for 2 maybe 3 cars. Doan Lake road parking fully open (5 or 6 cars). Feeder trail from Doan parking to Doan Lake loop is groomed and tracked.

Track is in good shape. There is some fresh snow on the track that was set 3 days ago. Fairly fast but definitely controllable. Waxless twin skins worked well for me, even then a little slipping because of the icy base and soft snow on top.

Beautiful morning to ski. Two inches of heavy wet snow Christmas night. Today 20F and sunshine. Classic ski on Doan Lake trail this morning. Several skiers had packed the tracks after the Christmas snow and the skiing was much better than I anticipated. Good kick on blue hard wax.

Christmas morning classic on Doan Lake Trail with wife. Super fast snow and 95% perfect tracks. The other 5% still nice...tho less than perfect. You have to love single track trails thru the deep woods!

All Trout trails were groomed with new classic tracks set today, including Doan Lake trails. North end had a lot of foot traffic before grooming but cleaned up nicely. Singletrack on north end to trailhead. Singletrack on Doan Lake including tracks to Doan Lake Rd parking area. Super conditions.

Skied Doan Lake to Trout Trails to Joyce Estate. Last grooming was 6 days ago and 5+ inches accumulation of almost daily snow...light and fluffy with the cold temps. Tracks were still good and plenty packed down by multiple hardy skiers. Still mostly straight with just a few washouts. Doan Lake not quite so packed with less skier numbers but a very nice single track loop with a bit more terrain and a lot more turns.

Still excellent conditions on Trout Trails. Just a handful of small dirt clumps in 10k of skiing. Tracks well used but mostly still in very good condition. Doan Lake loop fully tracked and good skiing, but a few bare spots and thin under the pine trees. Too many small woody shoots sticking up on the trail...more of a distraction than a problem.

Skiing was very good with no obvious rocks or debris. Some skiers I met had removed some churned up rock at the beginning of the south entry. I did not encounter any. The tracks were very good, a little soft in a few places but overall the vast majority of the trail skied very well.

I broke trail on the Doan Lake trails to the Trout Lake intersection this morning. Trout trails were freshly groomed with double classic tracks and looked awesome. The groomer passed my on his way down the Doan Lake loop. He was struggling a bit in the 10 inches of cold dry snow. Work on the Doan Lake trail was still in progress as I headed home. Skiing this week will be awesome. B Skis just because the base is very soft and very few minor windblown areas.
