Located in the Chippewa National Forest, semi-primitive. Contains Joyce Estate, a historic northwoods retreat with log and stone buildings of Adirondack architecture. Rated beginner/intermediate.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
At trout lake, I skied the Doan Lake loop. A bit thin compared to the trail to Joyce. Only risk of ski damage is the two road crossings. Good tracks for such little snow. Thin and wind blown by the lake.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Doan Lake Loop, north to Trout Lake Trail and west to creek. Doan Lake has fair to good tracks on about 70%. Thin spots and a little grass common and avoidable. Trout Lake Trail was very nice! Just a random spot of dirt or piece or debris. I’d use my good skis. Lots of happy people out skiing.

Tracks were set Christmas afternoon on Trout Trail and parts of Doan Lake. Base is soft and thin in parts.

Morning
Grooming 
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Groomed Trout Trail and Doan Lake this morning. Mostly good coverage. A few areas of gravel mixed in in spots. Worst on hills along Moore lake. Doan Lake Trail has patches of leaves and small brush that didn’t get mowed. All trails are ski ready but need more snow to smooth things out and before we set tracks.
