Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
North Suomi all trails groomed and track set. Deep snow, had to go twice without the groomer to pack. Groomer stuck in a number of places, so use caution while going around Spruce Island Lake loop. Areas closer to the North Parking lot should be good skiing on New Years.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Groomed south soumi up to the north lot. Trouble with the track setter, so was unable to lift the track at the normal spots. Fixed for next time. The parking lots should be plowed by the end of the day (truck problems).

Wonderful conditions with a bounty of snow. These trails are among the best in the state; extensive, technically challenging, and intimate with forest and remote lakes. Some trails are more moderate in challenge especially the South Trails. Highly recommended.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Friday morning groomed North Suomi trails, set tracks. 3" of snow on packed trails made for reasonable track setting. Should be good for skiing on Saturday!

South Suomi was all groomed beautifully, with the three inches of sticky wet snow that fell from yesterday covering bare spots completely now. Blue kick wax worked perfectly. All trails were groomed except segment up to Orange Lake Road. With frosted trees, no wind and clear blue skies, skiing like today doesn't get any better.

Skiing south Suomi was great with just a skiff of fresh fluffy snowflakes in the track. Groomer had re-tracked parts and lifted the track setter on the challenging downhills with sharp turn at the bottom (Big Horn Lake bridge and Miller Lake turn). Made it so much friendlier and funner skiing to know you could snowplow turn at the bottom! Thank you!

North Suomi trails. After equipment problems and delays, the trails finally were packed early afternoon on Saturday the 14th. Track was set in a few areas but mainly comb/ packed the trails and went twice to get some width to the areas that can be wider. The next snow there should be some good skiing.

Snow falling, skiers skiiing in new snow, doesn't get much better than that in this scenic National Forest wonderland of South Suomi!

South Suomi was tracked beautifully and with Blue Extra we made it up many of the hills without herringbone. Note the deer beds and tracks along this trail near Lawrence Lake.
