Got in a great skate early morning before heavy wet snow falling slowed us up. About 2 inches had fallen up by the time we finished.

Trails are freshly groomed and track set all the way to Tower End and back thanks to team work by packers, clearers, and three groomers! Hurray!

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Very good conditions on a cold, clear Friday morning. Blueberry had recently been groomed and cleared. Only a short section on the far end of the trail near the cell tower was not groomed. There were several trees down there preventing the groomer from getting through. The classic tracks were in a good shape and the skating lanes were good also, though just bit crunchy. Nice day to be out.

Thanks to more volunteers packing, clearing, cutting, grooming and setting track, I had a wonderful fun classic ski past H to I and back to trailhead! Sun shining! One beautiful tunnel of trees to ski under. Only one short segment to Tower End yet to be cleared and packed.

What a great ski trail! And best warming hut ever! Little bit of light snow over some pretty good grooming. Looking forward to the opening of the last segment. Huge thank you to all the folks that maintain and support this trail system!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
An inch of fresh snow on the trail system from last night. Skate and classic base is firm under ski but easily punctured with racing baskets. To my great disappointment, the trail appears abandoned above H cutting 3.6 km of beautiful trail off the system. [ Trail is not abandoned, volunteers simply haven't cleared all the debris from previous storm. They report trail beyond H will be cleared and packed this week. -Ed. ] This can be overcome by just skiing a bunch of 5km loops. Happy new year!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Packed and combed Lake Loop to 'H' to Lower Junction, Red Pine back to 'C'. Track still seemed to be good on Prelude loops so I left them as they were. Lake Loop to 'H' may still be soft in some spots; some pine needles and debris in some areas on the trail. About 5 K of the trails are ready to ski, classic track is set on about 2.5 K.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Prelude loops groomed with skate lane and classic tracks. Also up to Red Pine Junction. From that point on, ski on packing snowmobile tracks in fluffy snow. Very fun! And snip branches and cut trees along the way. Plan is to groom more on Friday.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Groomed up to 'D' cut across and up to Red Pine and Pincherry junctions and classic and skate loops from 'E' to 'F' and back down to 'C'. Trail may still be a little soft in some places. Please help by picking up sticks and branches off the trail. Set a new track on Inner and Outer Prelude loops. Lake Loop from 'D' to 'F', and trails beyond Pincherry Junction not open yet.
