Spring is definitely here! High 50's yesterday and 40 degrees today are making some beautiful late season skiing. We have a fresh groom on the snowmaking loop which is holding its own quite well still, but the inevitable melt water migration is starting to crop up in some parts. Trails are definitely still passable and in good condition, but be cautious on the hairpin corner and and a small section near the entrance of the upper loops.

Snow was surprisingly firm this morning as temps dipped into the 20s last night. Everything groomed out quite well and tracks are still sitting at full depth with moderate firmness. Conditions will get softer as the day goes on but the sun will be out and skies blue! There's still plenty of skiing left this year.

Snow is still grooming out quite well today, a lot of moisture in the snow but a little cooler temps and cloudy skies are keeping things from breaking down too much. Skate deck and tracks are moderately firm, but with some give that's expected from spring snow. We are only grooming the snowmade loop at this point in time, the upper loops are deteriorating quick and some large ice/slush floes are continuing to grow across large sections of trail. We do have the upper loop signed as closed, as there are multiple areas that are becoming quite hazardous. The snowmade loop still has plenty of coverage and is still looking quite nice, but snow is starting to get a little dirtier and the winds from last night and this morning have sprinkled some spruce needles in sections.

Temps and sun have been favorable for us and conditions on the snowmaking loop are great! Skate deck and tracks are bothe refreshed and a little soft, but are holding together nicely. Tracks in the stadium are pretty shallow due to some ice that is building up under the snow layer, but through the rest of the loop they are deep and beautiful! This looks like a great week for some t shirt skiing out there!

Well, we have mostly survived the rain and thaw of the past week with our snowmade loop keeping its coverage and the upper, natural snow loops taking most of the hit. There is still snow coverage up there, but significant ice floes and slush ponds have surfaced in many sections. They can still be skied around for now, but travel up there is not recommended and we have not brought grooming equipment there due to possible damage to the trail. The snowmade loop has been groomed with new tracks, but snow conditions have made the tracks variable in depth and condition. Its a little icy out there, but should soften up when the sun comes out.

Spring skiing has arrived! We recorded 4 moderately wet inches of snow yesterday and it has incorporated well into the existing snow pack. Trails are looking beautiful with temps getting towards freezing today, and should hold up well throughout the day. Today's the day to enjoy the sun and snow!

Great spring skiing! The grooming was World Cup quality and the classic track has been moved to the left side for better flow. Get out and try it after this next storm. Spirit is usually groomed first!

Jody Ream and I set a new classic track line this morning. We moved it to the left side for most of the climb and half of the return back down to the stadium. This approach achieves a continuous track on the climb and the skate line feels good as well. I skied a couple loops in each technique and skied all the cutoff to see if how much the track would be impacted. With so little cutoff usage I think having to cross a track shouldn't be a problem or damage the track too much and you gain a nice continuous climbing track. Go out and stride or skate it and let us know what you all think.

Things are looking good here for the Tour DuLuth festival today! A couple inches of fresh snow last night have been mixed in and the trails are quite firm after the cold last night. Come on out and enjoy the festivities, free demos and enjoy this bluebird day!
