Firsthand: Freestyle

Fresh corduroy at 7 am. It was really nice. Not at all icy. Temp was about 34F. The classic tracks were freshly set, too. I didn't use them, figured the sidewalls would be soft, because I wanted them to stay nice for classic skiers.

Wow, what a weekend for XC skiing in Duluth. I finally got out to just ski on Sunday afternoon and was not disappointed. Erik and Spirit are doing a great job and it will only get better from here. The trail was a little wet and soft from the warm weather, but still a very enjoyable ski. Get out there and take advantage of the early season skiing!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
It's a bit damp and foggy out this morning with 34 degrees reading on the snow at thermometer at 5:30am, but the snow has filled up well and is looking great! Our 1200m loop held up to the crowds yesterday with Kikkan's visit and is ready for you to come out. I have full classic tracks set, but it's pretty wet so it's probably klister or skin conditions.

750 meters of perfection! Four pairs of precise classic tracks in the stadium and two pairs everywhere else. If you were here in the morning, an additional section was opened at 2:15pm. Great to be skiing 2 weeks before Thanksgiving!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Winter is back at GANC! We've had significant progress in snowmaking through the system and are looking to have a good portion open within the next couple of days. Our first official opening is Thursday the 14th and we will have the stadium and stadium loop open for skiing, so a little over 400m. It doesn't sound like much, but we are planning to have even more open by the weekend. Snow is in great shape, everything hasn't quite reached perfectly level yet as it needs a few from sessions to spread out, but it should be fantastic early season skiing! Don't forget to come meet and ski with Kikkan Randall this Saturday and help out DXC with their fundraising efforts!

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed ]
We've been working on getting trails filled in for the last two weeks and the Nordic center is looking great! Grooming plans: We're looking to have 1/2 K, maybe more, for our opening day on Thursday Nov 14th and will be welcoming Kikkan Randall on Saturday the 16th for a fundraising event/ski session with DXC to help fund the system and our snowmaking perations. Our season is off to a great start and hope to keep pushing for some great early season skiing!
