Pretty nice trail conditions for the 1.8k man-made snow loop. The ski deck was solid for skating and the track looked okay for classic. Today's issue was the number of skiers, it was extremely crowded. The snow guns were making snow for the area that is used for staging high school race starts and finishes. I am hopeful the snow guns get moved soon to open the Frog Town loop.

Used my good race classic skis on the 1.8 K loop of manmade snow. Perfect conditions for blue extra kick wax. Slightly better knowing kick out of the tracks. If I had my rock skis I would have checked out the loop around the lake since the trails looked good but I didn't want to risk my good skis.

The man made trail was in great shape. The snow guns were blazing away this morning, here's to hoping more trail soon. Heard from other skiers that the natural snow trails were rolled but variable conditions and no tracks.

I skied all the natural snow trails after dark with a headlamp. Lake trail and the end of Hill were in fairly rough shape - drifted down to woodchips in places and lots of postholes from walkers. Additionally, where those two trails come back together there is a bunch of exposed gravel. The North and Nature center trails were quite nice other than one spot where the bike path is sticking through and a few thin spots with organic debris. You could use B skis with a bit of caution on those. Generally quite firm throughout with occasional soft spots where drifting had occured or the groomer had fewer passes.

I was hoping for a Xmas miracle and having longer trail but we are still at the same 1.8K and the snow guns were quiet. For the trail that is groomed it was fantastic. The new snow was nice to ski on. The tracks were firm and the skate deck was nice and flat.

Merry Christmas and thanks to the Hyland groomers who had the man made loops perfectly groomed for Christmas Day skiing.

Hyland at it’s best on the man made loop. If we get a little more snow we’ll probably be out on the natural snow trails.

[ B skis ]
Skate-skied Star Loop and Lake Trail after work at 8:30pm Christmas Eve, Trails were practically empty. Man-made snow on the Star Loop is in excellent condition, good skis are usable. Natural snow on the Lake Trail is in fair condition, use B or rock skis due to patches of wood chips and grass still exposed in some sections.

Classic skied from 7-9 and it was virtually empty, surprisingly. Not much wind at all, except near Jan's place. Terva worked pretty well, though tracks were icy in places. Still 1.8 open, snow guns were not running.
