It sure is nice to get onto this great trails system when it is groomed. Aside from the effects of the "ground blizzard", with only a few short stretches filled in, the tracks on both sides were fresh and deep. Both kick and glide were near perfect. The folks on the skate deck were having a good time too. Too bad it's going to be cold cold tomorrow or I'd go there again.

Ski trails at Lake Elmo were groomed today. The skate deck on the Eagle Point trail was redone, the classic track was not reset. The skate deck and classic tracks on the east trails were both regroomed. Trails are in good condition with minor debris present.

Eagle Point was in very good condition once you got off the multi-use trail. It had been recently groomed and was soft in spots. It was 29 degrees and sunny with brisk west wind. Snow was very dry and slow for the FastWax Red LF with which my skis were waxed.

Classic skied east side trails. Well defined tracks, surprised how fast they were. Some leaf debris on campground loop, but rest of trail system mostly pristine. Great sunny day to be out, very few people on the trails.

Trails at Lake Elmo Park Reserve have been groomed. The Eagle Point trail was groomed for classic and skate skiing, conditions are good. The skate deck on the east ski trails was regroomed today and trails are in great condition. The multi-use trails were also groomed.

The Eastside trails have indeed been groomed and they are indeed in good shape. The west wind quickly deposited some leaves in the striding tracks in some places, but as of 5:00 pm the "debris" was not much more than a minor nuisance. The skating deck looked to be pretty firm, and not crusty. Thanks (again!) to LE's diligent and competent groomers.

I saw the posting this morning about grooming at Lake Elmo Park Reserve. I was surprised, as they don't normally groom on weekends. Too good to be true...not groomed. The 8" of powder would have been better negotiated with back-country skis. Anyways, a grunting, good workout on a beautiful day! Hopefully groomed this week, when most of us are working and cannot enjoy better conditions. Bummer.

I was disappointed to find that the trails (east or west) had not been groomed as of this afternoon after the fresh snow. It sure was a beautiful winter wonderland though!

I called the park at 11:15am, and they said they were currently grooming the east side, then they were moving to the west side.
