Eagle Point was in good to very good condition. It had been groomed earlier in the morning. It was soft but improved to pretty skateable after passing the quonset hut going counter clockwise. No classic track. I used FastWax Red LF.

Skied the east side trails just after noon. Better skate deck then the west side but some more use will be helpful. Overall good ski. Rolled but no classic tracks. Pretty loose and uneven snow but full coverage. Also, most of the leaves from last week are now covered. Not fast but very happy to be out there.

Skied the west side Eagle Point (Red) trail first. Full snow coverage, rolled, no classic tracks. Skate skied and snow was very loose. But overall happy that it was as good as it was after all the rain this week.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Lake Elmo's east side was groomed this morning. There's pretty good coverage but snow is too thin to set track. On the west side, Eagle Point Trail is in rough shape. Use by fat bikes and hikers have contributed to poor trail conditions.

Pleasantly surprised to find the full east side Lake Elmo skate deck groomed this morning. Generally good conditions, overall soft and some areas very soft where the snow was drifted. Probably a dozen spots where the groomer had pushed through to the water/wet snow that then froze in patches, all easy to see and avoidable. Beautiful morning with the snow in the trees and finally some blue sky and sunshine! No classic tracks set yet.

Skied Brown-Green-Yellow. No grooming has been done due to the warm weather, leaving trails very cut up in many sections. With no recent snow there are oak leaves galore in the woods. Bare spots are mostly avoidable but I took my skis off to walk around a downhill on Brown. Trails are icy with the refreeze last night. Also some very nice areas that were fun to ski.

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Conditions were very icy and there were some bare patches in places. I skied a small portion of the trails but it seemed like all the trails were about the same and I don't imagine any of the other trails were better. The classic tracks were icy as well.

I had a very nice classic ski. I used my zeros in and out of the tracks. Tracks set throughout and mostly good. Know that there is dirt and gravel breaking through at spots, easily spotted. The leaf-squeamish too may want to avoid. But even late day, coverage was full and my race skis made it unscathed.

Conditions were good to very good. It was 34 degrees at my 6 pm arrival and 28 when I concluded about 6:45. Amazingly good coverage; I had to dodge only a few bare spots. Minimal leaves. Nevertheless, I caught one and went down on the last hill on Brown's Pond. I used FastWax Yellow LF Didn't have high expectations given two straight days of 40's. Figured slush and lots of bare spots. To my surprise the entire lighted perimeter - Brown's Pond, Lake Elmo and Northern Lights - was screaming fast with great bite for my strides. Had to be my fastest skate of the year. Groomers have done a great job with such minimal base.

Hit trail about noon. Groomer was on duty on the east side. Tracked up some of this work which was nicely done. Veered off on outer loop for a couple of laps. Then skied lap on the west side. Snow over there colder and coarser. Good coverage, some leafy sections, but it's the nature of nature.
