Great coverage on 99.9 % of east loops, just a few bare spots that can be easily stepped around. Tripped on quite a few leaves. Really nice system with lovely Nordic Center and no crowds. Don't go, you won't like it...

Skated the east side trails. Excellent grooming- and fast skate deck. Observed very shallow classic tracks in places. A skaters dream but not for classic folks.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Lake Elmo's east side has been groomed this morning. The skate deck looks good. There are a few icy patches and bare spots that are easily avoidable.

Eagle Point trail was in good to very good condition at my noon start. It was 38 degrees and sunny. The trail has been groomed since Sunday and generally had a good skate deck except for occasional dirt, roots at the point where the spur off the multi-use trail makes its final turn west and some inconsequential snowmobile or snow cat tracks on portions of the west and southwest ends. I used FastWax Red HF, which performed pretty well given the temperature.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails have been groomed this morning. East trails are in good condition, hard packed but with soft corduroy. West ski trails are in fair condition with debris. The reroute portion on the red trail has been reported as poor but passable. No tracks have been set.

Skated the entire perimeter of the east-side trails. They were in very good condition. Packed and complete coverage - no bare spots. Just a little vegetation sticking through at the top of the hill on Northern Lights. No classic track. It was sunny and 32 degrees. I used FastWax Red HF.
Six days into my 2019/20 season and my fourth time out, I've already hit my personal standard of skating 10 k/hour. Admittedly, I was really tired as I hit Bur Oak to complete the circuit. Once again kudos to the Lake Elmo groomers.

All trails in Lake Elmo packed today. No tracks set. Good coverage. East side is in better shape than the west side.

Eagle Point was in fair to good condition. Trail has been rolled once. It had a couple of inches of fluff on top; it was skier tracked for classic and and an uneven surface of skating. It was 27 degrees and the sun was coming out as a I arrived at dusk.
I asked a skier leaving the parking lot about the conditions when I arrived. He noted construction/trail rehab on north end but that the south side was packed. Followed his advice and was able to skate the entire new route around the lake, which is accurately captured on the current map. The construction reroute has you leaving the traditional ski trail onto an extension to the multi-use trail at the top of the ridge on the north end. As I have found in the past, the multi-use trail portion skated fine. I used FastWax Red HF, which performed well in the generally drier snow.

Conditions were very good. The park has full snow coverage, and the crew has rolled every trail off the nordic center (but not tracked). Some parts had a bit of drifting, but overall things were good. I bet they'll be excellent after another grooming pass.

My daughter, Linnea, and I had a nice time classic skiing at Elmo on Brown and Green trails. No formal tracks but still fine - plenty of coverage throughout. Skate lane looked decent with a few fresh inches on top but with wet warm snow nothing is going to but rocket fast.
