Skied most of the lighted trail sections this afternoon. Significant leaves in the classic tracks in the woodier sections, less in the prairies. A beautiful time out skiing at Lake Elmo as always. The skate deck looked great, appeared to have been recently rolled.

All ski trails were groomed for both classic and skate except for the new North Loop. There is some debris present. Very good coverage. Snow is soft but will firm up overnight. There is also a minor amount of drifting snow in the open areas.

East side skate deck was groomed this morning. Classic tracks were not reset and looked icy. Skate deck was nice and soft with good edging. At 1:00pm the groomer was heading out on the west side multiuse trails. I skated all of those before grooming and they were passable but would be nice for skating if you hit them before they get packed down again from walkers and bikes.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
East side ski trails were groomed. Skate deck was regroomed. Tracks were not reset. Trails are getting thin but are generally in fair to good condition. There is quite a bit of debris on the trails and some icy patches in the classic tracks. The multi-use trails on the west side of the park have been groomed and tracks for skijoring have been set.

The old perimeter trails - Brown's Pond, Lake Elmo and Savanna? - were in very good condition. Just a little seed and leaf litter and an avoidable strip of Ice on the steep climb out of the valley on Brown's Pond. It was 32 degrees and overcast. I used FastWax Yellow LF. Red or Salmon may have been better but I still had a reasonably fast ski. The parking lot was clearing out when I started at 4:45. I met only 5 other parties of skiers in the 40 minutes I was on the trail. The trail has seen moderately heavy use but has held up well. The bare spots that had developed on Savanna, 14E to 18E, have now been covered up by the recent snows and that trail section is now in good to very good condition. Thanks to the great groomers.

A thin firm skate deck. Lots of leaves scattered about. Bare spot here and there. Joyful skiers enjoying. One last January ski.

Classic skied just the "Savannah" and "North" loops. Tracks are worn and there are some icy or debris laden spots, but overall in good shape and a pleasant outing.

Went out at Lake Elmo over lunch. Brown is excellent, Pink is good to excellent, Green is good, and yellow is excellent. Classic tracks looked good with a just few icy patches. A great ski!
