Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Conditions: Fast snow, starting to break down throughout the day and turn to sugar. Firm on the edge of the trail. 6 Lap Individual TT. Double Pole Only on my Madshus Propulsion Skis (DP skis) 22:30, Fastest lap 3:27 (new classic PR) Toko NF Red (Now Called Toko Base Performance Red). I opted to double pole but I warmed up on classic skis with Rex Purple Klister (ironed in and cooled) covered with Rode VO hardwax. Skied out of the tracks trying to fine the fastest/icy snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Both Trailhead parking lots nearly full at 8 AM, but plenty of room on the sugary but very clean and fast manmade loop. Awesome hills, both up and down. Classic tracks were great, and there was not much competition for them except young'uns double-poling uphill :D. I clocked a 9 minute lap, yeeah! Many thanks to the Loppet Foundation and its people for making this possible, and here's to a few days of subfreezing temps!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Pretty amazing that there is a 1.4k loop with the recent warm-up. Uphills were a bit sugary but nothing to be worried about. Tracks looked solid as heck. Was pretty busy around 7am but calmed down a bit by 8am.
Ripped a few hard laps. Fastest was 3:39. Tactic today was to go hard the day AFTER Brian Gregg humiliates everyone.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Nice and fast conditions this morning at 6:15am, perfect for trying out a few hot laps. I managed to clock in a 3:57 lap (skating), and then after breaking a binding and using mis-matched skis I was able to squeak in a 4:20 legs-only lap followed by a 4:37 double-pole-only lap. Wax of the day was FastWax HS-20 Blue on the left ski and FastWax HS-10 Teal on the right ski. Left binding was Fischer Turnamic, right binding was Salomon Prolink. Left ski was 1cm shorter than the right ski, so hopefully that does not disqualify my results.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Don't be discouraged by the warm weather. Went at noon and it was still good. Moved like a turtle... would have got lapped by those time trialers.

10k skate TT this morning, total time 23:34, fastest lap 3:49. Got a bit mushy as the sun came out and more people were on the trails but still pretty decent.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied the trails at about 7:30 and they were hopping with a bunch of fast college kids doing some TTs. The skate deck was already getting a little sugary on the hills. Not too deep yet, but it was still early morning so I would anticipate it breaking down more as it warms up. I was skiing on my hard pack Rossi's with just my storage wax scraped off about 100km ago. Might be time to actually wax. I didn't see the official/unofficial hot lap competition until after my morning ski. A post ski analysis of my intervals shows the best single lap of 4:03 for me. Given the rest of the speedy youth out this morning I expect I'm nowhere near the top of the leaderboard.

1.5k loop, man-made. Flats were pretty bare and icy, hilly section was better but uphills getting a bit soft. Could tell it had seen some pretty heavy use since last grooming.

Primo conditions this early morning at Wirth! 26 degrees and firm, fast, fun, and perfect classic tracks for my skin skis. Skate deck was ideal looking as well. The 1.4 K loop is a real nice mix for all ability levels, and lends itself well to training of all types. Morning is definitely the sweet spot for hitting the perfect conditions, especially this week. Enjoy!
