1.5k loop, man-made. Flats were pretty bare and icy, hilly section was better but uphills getting a bit soft. Could tell it had seen some pretty heavy use since last grooming.

Primo conditions this early morning at Wirth! 26 degrees and firm, fast, fun, and perfect classic tracks for my skin skis. Skate deck was ideal looking as well. The 1.4 K loop is a real nice mix for all ability levels, and lends itself well to training of all types. Morning is definitely the sweet spot for hitting the perfect conditions, especially this week. Enjoy!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied around 8:30 am, found conditions to be very fast and nicely groomed. Plenty of other skiers out, but not crowded. Snow was starting to break down a little on the uphills, but still very enjoyable morning ski especially with the bright sunshine. Gave one hot lap a shot, logged 4:29 freestyle. Not quite ready for my Olympic tryout...

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Skied around mid-morning, found conditions quite good -- plenty of snow and over 1K of trail open. The hills were getting a little soft as the temperature was climbing above freezing. Not crowded, plenty of spacing.

The climb to coaches corner is groomed and the trail is great for intervals. Started at the light pole near the roundabout. Classic skied on Rex Gold Klister covered with Start Oslo purple (8 inches under foot). Full lap in 3 minutes 43 seconds.

I clocked a 1.45k loop. Snow was in great condition, about 35 degrees and cloudy skies meant it was pretty consistent. Started to get a little busier around 3:00, but still felt quite comfortable! Be sure to get your passes if you have not yet done so!

Super impressed to see the great snowmaking progress this morning! My GPS clocked in the newly expanded loop at 1.4K and there are some nice rolling hills now. Great for skating and classic. Thanks Loppet crew!

Good news! While we were skiing at Wirth this afternoon they opened up the new section which includes the Catwalk hill. It turns around at Coaches Corner and goes down the big hill and then the two rollers back into Lower Stadium. I didn’t measure it, but I’m guessing somewhere around 1.5-2K. The new section was a little soft, but coverage is great and the classic track was solid all the way around. If the idea of flat laps was keeping you away, no worries now!

Another great morning at Wirth. Small group of fast skiers out at 6:30 a.m., then steadily growing crowd until I left at 9. Probably max of 30 people. Track was in great shape and it seems like they’re very close to opening a much longer loop. Definitely worth coming out and enjoying!
