Stayed on the snowmaking loops, which have expanded to include portions of Ridgeline and La Squadra (although the latter was closed for grooming while I was there). Course was fast but there were a significant number of ruts, and the hills and classic tracks were very icy.

Roads were fine for getting there, lots were plowed, trails were just rolled. Snow is slow and wet, but very skiable. Some debris and leaves, but overall very nice. Nobody out so a peaceful ski in the woods. Tracks looked good as well. Snow was starting up again, with light wind but started picking up quite a bit by 8:30. All in all a nice morning for a ski.

Just after noon, skied multiple laps of the snow-making loop and it was great! Then went over and did the Skyline natural snow trail and it was pretty good. There are a few bare spots scattered throughout but mostly avoidable. Watch out for some bare patches at the bottom of the long winding east-heading hill on the inner loop. And a bit thin under the railroad bridge. With hardly any recent snow, it is wonderful the base has held out OK. Thanks for the regular grooming!

Not much to say about the made-snow loop today- it was great skiing. Either it was the grooming or the slight dusting of snow (or both), but the deck was much improved over Tuesday evening. No sheer spots and soft snow- but not mushy. Full parking lots, but most people must have been elsewhere because the made-snow was fairly empty. The snow guns were working hard on the North Finger section, maybe soon?

Excellent conditions at Wirth this morning after the dusting of new snow. Firm, deep classic tracks, no ice on any hills. Saw the Pisten Bully working at the bottom of La Squadra, so I am hopeful we will have more hills on the menu when skiing the snowmaking loop.

I hit the made snow loop just after Trail Kids ended and the families cleared out. There were still plenty of people there, including a few classes. This was the first time I’ve encountered sugar or chutes on hills this season. The warm temps and loads of people led to some berms on the hill leaving Twin Lakes and the newly added downhill coming back up to Coach’s corner. The last hill coming down to the roundabout is a little sheer, but you could still get an edge on all the hills. Some of the uphills were a little more choppy than usual and the snow is getting grainier. Still a very nice ski.

The snowmaking trails had fresh corduroy and freshly set classic tracks! It was great. Thank you to the grooming staff.

Skied classic around the green meadow loop. The classic trail was set and good all the way around. The skating deck had full coverage as well. There were a fair number of skiers just after lunch which grew later in the afternoon.

The made snow loop was great and it’s so nice to see Twin Lakes and the little bit after the Catwalk open now. I expected the snow to be a little mushier due to the damp air, but it was great. We even got a brief flurry. More tracks are there now, though still none on the downhill after Coach’s corner. Not many people out.

I skied the snowmaking loop early this morning and it was in great shape. Firm deck, great track all the way around. A little dark along Twin Lakes, but I had a headlamp, so it was fine. By around 6:15 the parking lot was already filling up. Good news: They’ve opened another short section just beyond Coaches’ Corner (aka the Catwalk). Total length is now almost exactly 4K, so bring your good skis and do some laps! Not sure what the total elevation is per lap, forgot to start Strava! Thanks for the continued extensions Loppet staff!
