Trail Detail
Notes
A nice set of trails with rolling hills. The first lighted trail system in the metro, it still attracts a lot of after-work skiers.Trail Reports

Finally skied everything at French and didn’t hit any rocks! A few spots you have to be weary on but for the most part, packed and fast!

Took the wooden skis out late afternoon. Super Extra was kicking great. All trails were groomed and tracked. It was soft in the tracks and looked to be soft for the skate deck. The practice loop had grass poking through in the tracks but skate deck was fully covered. All other trails were completely covered with a few leaves here and there probably blown across the ground.

Great conditions. Used my good skis and had no concern about possible damage. No grass or bare spots and very little if any debris. Track was set throughout the park. Track was a bit soft as expected with the new snow. Should continue to set up nicely! Skate deck looked a little soft in spots but otherwise great.

Wonderful conditions at French today! I started right around noon, and while more people continued to show up, it never felt close to crowded. The classic tracks also looked good, and there were probably more classic skiers than skate today.

Skyline, Medicine, and Meadow were a blast. A few spots with a small amount of grass showing, but debris on these trails are easily avoidable. Lakeview is good for the most part, better as you get further away from the visitor center. Lagoon has a good amount of tree debris. Take extra care around the playground as I did notice concrete showing through.

Groomed classic tracks are shallow and often washed out. Leaves, sticks and grass showing only rarely. Skating trails look good. No ice.

Conditions were very good for skating, and there were set tracks. Much of the skate deck was still barely-touched corduroy at 3:30 pm, as very few people had been skiing until a high school team came to practice. There were a few areas of minor leaves and sticks, and a couple spots where a few small pieces of gravel had been churned up, but these were easily avoided if you pay attention.

I was pleasantly surprised by the snow conditions at French this morning. The groomers did an amazing job with what little snow we've had in the metro. They'd even set classic tracks which were in fair to good shape throughout, a little shallow at times, but still good considering. There were some occasional leaves and sticks in the track, but not bad! The skate deck was in good shape too. I only saw about three skiers taking advantage of the new snow--slightly different from the Hyland crowds!

Pleasantly surprised to find classic tracks set around noon when I showed up. They aren’t perfect but the groomers did an amazing job considering the little bit of snow they had to work with. Grass showing in several places and the occasional rock was kicked up in 3-4 places but it was easy to get around. It was definitely a worthwhile ski with B or rock skis. Hopefully a little more snow falls this evening.
