  Rolling terrain groomed 3 to 5 days per week. Very pretty! Park in the course parking lot and trailhead near the first tee.

  The local school district Nordic ski team grooms some trails (weather permitting). Always park outside of the gate, even if it is open.

  Short, relatively flat trails. The park has been used for skijoring in recent years.

  A great hilly trail system completely in the woods. Because of the woods, the trails hold their snow better than most.

  Trails meander along the edge of Lake Minnewashta, through forested and prairie area of this 340-acre park. Separate trails are groomed for skiing and walking.

  Classic only cross-country trails that wind through wooded areas, around wetlands, and through tree and shrub collections. Warm up in the lodge-like Oswald Visitor Center.

  Flat to slightly hilly terrain trail loops. A 12K skijoring loop has been added in recent years.

  Primarily flat trails along the Mississippi River, north and south of the Coon Rapids Dam.

  Seven miles of trails with a 1.9 mile ski-skating loop. This area has several hills and heavily wooded ravines.

  Trails wind through the hilly, wooded countryside and around scenic lakes and ponds. Recent trail changes have made the trails more gentle, flater.

  Located in Creek Valley Park, the trails run behind Creek Valley Elementary and Edina High School. There is a 1/2K snowmaking loop.

  1.5 miles of classic groomed trails. Trail overlooks Mississippi River, woods and native prairie. Good for beginners. 
Elk River 18  Woodland Trails    15km    
  Maintained by Elk River Nordic Nordic Ski Club, these trails have become a hot-spot for fantastic skiing in the North Metro. Trails are largely wooded over rolling terrain, but some sections have good climbs and descents. Trails consist of several interconnected loops and are aptly named--be sure to check out the "Top-of-the-World" and "Gravity Box" as well as "Wash Pond Flats" to the NE of the biathlon range. There is not a warming shack, but at least one port-o-potty at the main parking lot. Primarily groomed for skate (not always tracked for classic).

  The Univ of Minnesota Center for Outdoor Adventure is providing high quality, frequently groomed skiing right in the heart of the metro at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.

  Schaar's Bluff offers groomed ski trails wind through the woods and along the bluffs overlooking the scenic Mississippi River valley.

  St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park is a 579 acre Regional Park located on the wild and scenic St. Croix River. The park offers a variety of landscape types including rolling upland fields, wooded ravines and 3/4 mile of river frontage.

  Mix of woods and open prairie over rolling terrain. All trails are groomed skate and classic. Almost 9K of lighted trails.

  Most trails ramble through hardwood forest along any of several routes across all difficulty levels. Camel Back provides some fun hills, but Oak Run is particularly exciting. Morgan Lane offers beautiful view of a pond from a birch-lined ridge while effortlessly gliding back to the trailhead. Deer and winter songbirds frequently seen.

  Intermittently groomed, double track, usually from Jamaca Ave up to Pine Point Park.

  Some of the best ski trails in the metro area. Fantastic night skiing on their lighted trails! New in 2003, a 2.5K man-made snow loop.

  Rated easy to difficult. Parking located along Lower Afton Road, east of McKnight Road.  
Marine on St. Croix 30  Jackson Meadow    10.5K    
  Rolling trails along the St. Croix River bluff located at Jackson Meadows. Most of the trail system is south of the housing area, although some trails are set at the Central Meadow. 25% of trails are singletrack classic-only (narrow, 6 ft wide trails).

Minneapolis 32  Chain of Lakes    10K    
  This trail is groomed across the chain of lakes in Minneapolis: Brownie, Cedar (including Cedar Lake Park), Lake of the Isles, and Lake Calhoun. Usually not groomed until mid-winter, once the ice is safe for vehicles.

  Located off Central Ave, in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis. One of the oldest golf courses in the Cities.

  Located just off Minnehaha Parkway, north of Lake Nokomis. 
Minneapolis 36  Theodore Wirth Regional Park    25K     763-522-4584
  One of the oldest venues in the Twin Cities. Golf course and snowmaking loop trails on north end, big hills and woods on the south end. Lighted snowmaking loop (about 3K). Park at Wirth golf course, or Wirth beach off Glenwood Ave.

  The golf course trail wanders through thick strands of woods, around ponds and over gentle hills. Restaurant and bar with an outdoor fire pit near the front side trail to stay warm and enjoy a hot chocolate.

  Trails flow on hilly terrain along Rice Creek on Ramsey County open space land. Maintained by Irondale high school ski team and volunteers. Access from Irondale athletic fields or Poppyseed Drive.

  The trail is located about two blocks West of Hwy 169 on Bass Lake Rd. Overall this is a nice little gem. The terrain is very gentle and seems an ideal place for a family with small children or beginner skiers.

  A nice set of trails with rolling hills. The first lighted trail system in the metro, it still attracts a lot of after-work skiers.

  Trails range from beginner to intermediate level. 6.8km of the trails are lighted daily until 10 p.m..

  Trails wind through a slightly hilly section of old growth forest along the Rum River.

  A beautiful little nature preserve right in the middle of Richfield.

  Groomed trails through gently rolling terrain, woodland, and agricultural land. Part of the U of M's UMore Park.

  Top notch, hilly and twisting course through prairie and woods. There are 4K of lighted trails. Parking lot located off Winthrop St. Ski Games trail segment is located on west side of Battle Creek Rd.

  Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

  The most popular trail is the Pike Island loop offering views of the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers.

  Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

  Part of the Vadnais-Snail Lakes Park, these trails have both wooded and marsh land characteristics. Easy to intermediate level of difficulty.  
Stillwater 51  Brown's Creek Nature Preserve    4.5K    
  Located on the western edge of Stillwater, a primarily flat to moderate course with classic and skating.

  Small park near the end of the Gateway Trail. There is beautiful scenery with trails winding through pine forest, and near small lakes and picturesque farms. The course is quiet, sheltered, and has a lot of fun roling hills. Most of the terrain is intermediate in difficulty.
