Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
I'm a beginner skier and had a great afternoon practicing at Highland Golf Course. Tracks were pretty intact, but gone in a few places or a bit iced over. However, it's easy to see the places where others blazed shortcuts around the problem spots. Some sticks and leaves, too, but still a lovely and quiet place to build skills in hills and double pole practice.

9:30 AM 28 degrees! Skate skied on fresh corduroy on good skis-no problem. The classic is also fresh set. Both are excellent - only a couple thin spots to ski around. Thanks groomers!

The Highland 0-hole golf course cross country trail had a fresh skate deck groomed this morning. The base is very thin with a few blades a grass. We need it to snow. The classic track was set as well. Enjoy!

Classic tracks were broken down in a number of places but still easy enough to ski; a couple of very small bare patches, easily passable. Slight iciness in spots. A great first outing of the season for me!

Firsthand: Classic

Trail has gotten a lot of use in the last two days, which is a good thing, but track was broken up in a few places and there were some bare spots. Still, overall conditions were good to very good. Skating deck looked fast.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
A good headlamp 10k tonight! Classic tracks have good coverage, with one grass spot on the first turn after passing the ballfields, easy to step around. Lots of nice deep tracks, some shallow. Switchback turns are often washed out. Kick was great with rex green. It was 10 when I started and 4 when I finished, with a stiff cold breeze, so rex blue liquid glide wasn't great, needed something colder, although some sections had nice glide and others a bit slow and grabby. But I'm not complaining at all - it's a great little loop, right in the neighborhood, good grooming, wildlife stop by to watch the funny humans walking on sticks, and now we have really nice snow!

Judging by the pole marks, I was about the fifth person to ski the newly groomed trail. Track well-defined in most places. Some snow drifting in spots, but no grass or ice. Overall conditions excellent to very good. Enough snow for me to walk up most hills. Skate deck likewise groomed; looked good.

Night
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I was classic and my son skate Friday evening, 730-830. Not groomed as of Friday night, the classic tracks were snowed in and slow, very little glide, plenty of kick on rex green. Skating on the other hand was fantastic! The little bit of snow covered up almost all the ice and hardpack and made for surprisingly good, long glides on his V2 workout.
