Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic tracks were not reset following the most recent snowfall. Over half had been skied in and were decent, soft and lumpy as expected given the temperature. Skate deck appeared freshly groomed and very soft.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomer headed out early this morning to pack/roll a fresh 2" of snowfall. All loops are in excellent condition. Classic tracks were left alone as they appeared to be in very good shape. Virtual Birkie continues through Sunday!

Skied the blue trail today on a perfect blue wax day. I had heard that this trail was hilly and that is certainly the case. The trail was hilly overall but it gets very hilly where the blue trail diverges from the purple trail! We got a great workout! I thought this trail was very scenic too. All the hills and kettles made for a very nice ski. Grooming was still pretty good given all the use on the trail. Another thing to note is that you need a state trail pass to ski this trail. The annual fee is $25.

I skied the green loop and the trails were groomed and in perfect condition! Skied classical but switched to the skate deck for downhills and all was well. What a perfect winter day and excellent conditions as well. Thank you, groomers!

Blue loop - perfect. Green loop, had not been machine reset since the recent snow, but had been tracked in by skiers. Good, just a little softer. Overall, about the best I have ever seen at McMiller.

Afternoon

[ Good skis ]
Classic skied the outer blue loop, tracks were good in about 3/4 of the system. Fair amount of debris across the full system. Be careful on downhills out of track as the skate deck seemed to have quite a bit of ridges and berms. Needs another grooming to even that out. Thanks groomers for the work you do to keep the system great. (also a reminder that the warming shelter is closed.).

Lots of snow and excellent grooming made for a great morning ski! Colder overnight temps after a warmer day yesterday set the tracks, so the groomed tracks were zippier than the past few days. Caution when skiing in the groomed tracks on the blue loop-- there are a few places where the tracks make an abrupt jog around a tree or stop and shift over a few inches; would recommend taking the downhills outside the tracks because of these inconsistencies. Otherwise, perfect grooming, and a glorious morning ski!

Made the trip up to McMiller from Evanston, IL which was being dumped on with Lake effect snow. Despite the long trip up and the cold temps, I was rewarded with virgin corduroy and pristine laid tracks . I skated twice around the Biathlon Loop and then did the white loop, before returning to car to warm up and switch to classic boots and skis. I then did 11K blue loop which was great and I had it all to myself.

All skate lanes regroomed and classic tracks re-set on blue and purple. The system is in excellent condition throughout. Thanks for showing appreciation for the groomers - they are working hard to give you great trails to enjoy!

There were about 10 cars in the parking lot. So not much overcrowding out on the trails. Skied all the trails and they were in great shape. Forgot how much I liked McMiller trail system. It was a great choice to go there today.
