2020-2021 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 15    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Trout Trails at noon. Very good coverage from South Trailhead to Creek. Except first south facing uphill next to Moore Lake...enough snow to ski up but I walked down on my return. After Creek snow was thinner, especially at lake level. Trail was still mostly covered to Joyce Estate. Last uphill before estate really thin. North Trailhead Spur was getting really thin with multiple bare spots that could be avoided but not much longer.

Trail just groomed and skied all the way to the north lot. A couple dirt spots easily avoided on the n spur. A few wolf tracks and an otter track just before the creek.

2+ inches light fluffy snow. Set new classic tracks on all Trout Lake and Doan Lake trails this morning. South Trailhead to Joyce Estate has excellent conditions with minor dirt under dense pines on last hill before estate. Minor debris in random spots on spur to North Trailhead. Doan Lake very good with isolated thin spots.

First time here. Fresh snow from a couple days ago was nicely groomed in. Great track. 16 deg. Perfect blue wax day. Absolute joy. Drove up from Duluth where the rain has messed up most trails. Well worth the trip.

Set new classic Tracks on all trails tonight. Joyce Estate Trail is in excellent condition. Spur to North Trailhead is very good. Doan Lake Loop is overall very good. Spur from Trout Trail is best. Loop on south end still has a few thin spots under thick trees but much improved over previous condition. Tracks should freeze hard overnight and skiing be near perfect.

Wonderful ski today with bright sun and gorgeous hoar frost. Tracks were great, firm and well set, just a few dirt spots easily gotten around. Thanks Carl. Lots of folks enjoyed the trail today.

Set new classic tracks on all trails. Joyce Trail from South Trailhead very nice. Just a little dirt on far north end. Spur to North Trailhead good but spots of debris here and there. Worse on far north end. Doan Lake is good with scattered thin spots. I did not set tracks under some of the thick pines.

Tracks on Joyce Estate trail are well used but still in very good condition. The last uphill before the cabins has dirt on the left side of the trail under thick pines. Trout Trail from North Trailhead a little walked on but still good skiing. Doan Lake Trail showing a little wear from use but still good skiing with scattered thin spots.

Groomed and set classic track on all Trout Lake and Doan Lake Trails this morning. 3” light fluffy snow. Trout Lake Trails are in excellent condition...maybe just a bit thin under thick Pine Trees. Doan Lake Trail still has a few thin spots mostly on bumpy sections. Should be easily avoidable.
