What a difference a day makes. Trails were groomed (to the best of their ability) early yesterday afternoon. Conditions of the tracks were what you would expect for "spring" conditions; snow in the sheltered and north-facing areas, glazed/icy in the exposed areas. Thin/bare spots were starting to reappear in the usual areas. Hills were hard-packed and a bit icy. But they are not too big or steep, so you can maintain control. I used my old waxless skis. You would need to use klister if you used waxables. I would say conditions were fair to good, definitely skiable.

Skied all the trails at Whitetail, plus the Lone Rock Trail connector between the beginner and camper cabin loops. Great conditions and a beautiful morning to ski. A bit soft and slow due to the 1 - 2" of new snow but I'll take it. It helped cover the handful of thin spots. The groomer was being unloaded in the parking lot when I left. Not sure how the warmth will impact the trails, but I plan to check tomorrow morning.

Freshly groomed Friday. My best skiing this season. Few skiers. Some areas I was the first one on the track.

Great afternoon to ski. Firm tracks present throughout. Not recently groomed but still in very good shape. The little light snow from last week has also helped. Some thin/dirt/debris spots under the pines. All avoidable except one short stretch on the trail up to the camper cabins. This place is a real gem. And due to lower usage it stays in better shape than some of the closer in parks, especially in this lighter snow season.

Probably not the best choice on a subzero, windy day, but I was lured by the recent trail reports to this park that I have never skied before. I was very pleasantly surprised to find about 75% terrific double classic track / 25% exposed, windblown and drifted. As a bonus, the trails at the adjacent Vermillion Highlands were also double-tracked and were in great shape except for a few open drifted sections and one ungroomed section where you have to ski on an unplowed road. Tons of animal tracks - deer, coyote, birds of all sorts. Really got me back to my skiing roots, reminded me of skiing the farm fields, woodlands, and line fences of my family's Wisconsin dairy farm where I learned to ski as a young kid.

Skied all the trails at Whitetail. Firm tracks present throughout. A few thin spots here and there and a bit of pine debris, all avoidable. Minimal drifting where the trail passes by open fields to the north. A bit more drifting on a section of the Lone Rock Trail I used to connect two of the loops. Quiet; two other cars in the parking lot, saw one other skier. Embrace the cold.

Deep double classic tracks and trails in great shape. Excellent grooming by Dakota County Parks. Skied all the trails. A little bit of dirt here and there under pine tree sections can be easily skirted around.

Skied the main loops, not up by the cabins. little used trails so in good condition - lots of deer tracks and minimal people tracks. Great place to ski. Tracks were set and little to no debris under the trees. Looks like they were groomed 1-2 days ago, so the windblown areas are well tracked. Don't let the cold scare you away.

The Pisten Bully made the trip out to Whitetail Woods - and so should you! All trails were groomed with classic tracks set early this morning, so much of the blowing and drifting from overnight was avoided. Trails are in great shape, and so is the lit sledding hill!

First time skiing this Dakota County Park. Very impressed by the rolling hills. The tracks are in great shape other than the obvious wipeouts on the tight corners, and the steeper downgrades. There is some bare ground under the drip edges of the pine trees, but they are easily avoidable. Did the west loop this morning, and will do the east loop tomorrow. Better tracks here than at Lebanon Hills, but LH is heavily used. Great ski today. Thank you Dakota County Parks.
