Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

2020-2021 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trails were groomed this morning, skate deck and classic tracks both in good shape. Given how icy everything is, I didn’t have high hopes, so I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions. I did skip the back by the downhill area so can’t say how those hills were. The parking lot is the worst part. Be really careful walking to your car.

Trails were quite icy today overall. The section in front of the parking lot on the flats weren’t too bad. The classic tracks are in decent shape, but icy. Note the parking lot is pretty icy too, so be careful walking around. Hoping for more snow to come!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were very icy all around. Some straightaways were good enough to skate but some corners had large ice patches. Groomer did a good job of rolling in most places but overall the trail is still pretty bumpy and really needs some fresh snow. Coverage is great except under the bridge. Double polling in the tracks was the most fun. Skating was a bit sketchy in the current conditions.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The skate deck was groomed today and overall conditions are low to okay, based on the warmer temperatures and recent rain. There are slushy spots, icy spots, and exposed groundcover, but for those still really wanting to get it - it can be manageable.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate deck was rolled this morning and has about 2-3 inches of snow on top (soft conditions, with some wet areas), and no classic tracks laid. It is scheduled to be groomed tomorrow weather permitting- we are looking for colder temperatures for the snow to set up, more snow, and no additional rain.

Best take your classic skis here and not skate. The warm temp and heavy wet snow today has turned the trail to slushmush junk. The trail is probably doable for advanced skate skiers which I am not. Saw mostly people on classic skis.

Skate deck is packed really well and made for great skate skiing. There were about two grassy spots, near bridge and near sledding hill that needed avoidance. I had some challenge finding the course at times because it is not super obvious. Consult map. The sledders made for a bit of an obstacle course.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
It was a nice ski, classic trails are about 80% there with some really rough spots. Visible sticks and mulch in the smaller learning loop, along with thin show showing grass at more spots along the trail, which is why I elected to suggest rock skis. The skate trails were a bit better, maybe B skis but you might need to actively avoid bad areas near sledding areas, even those didn’t seem terrible for both skate and classic. Overall very pleasant ski experience, be aware of the kids cross country lessons by the chalet, and keep your eyes peeled for new tots on skis with zero control.

Excellent coverage at Como on Friday morning - even in areas I would have expected to deteriorate by now (under the bridge, top of the steepest downhill). Rock skis are safest, but B skis may be fine during daylight. Snow is too thin for a set track, but the skied-in track was available in most places. Groomer was heading out in the PB100 as I left.

I skied a quick lap around the course over the lunch break. The northern part of the course had some spots that melted to grass in the user-cut classic track. The skate deck looked good and most of the folks out there were skating over the course. The southern section had less melt and more snow since I last skied it. There were only a few times when I felt my pole tips grind on the path under the snow.
