Trail Detail
Notes
A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.Upcoming Events

I had to ski it after work. Classic skied 29 km in 1 hour 45 minutes. Skied double Anchor, Northern Lights, Buzz loops. Conditions are the best I've seen this season! Excellent! Tracks are deep, firm, kick is great, glide is great, hill climbs are pleasant in the tracks or herringboning. The skate deck is firm, easy to edge on and the glide is great. And the scenery is a frosted wonderland. This is going to be an epic xc skiing weekend at Ashwabay! Don't miss out. Thank you groomers!

Classic skied alot of km this morning. 30 to 40 km, not sure exactly how much, linked together the hill climbs differently and it felt great. Took advantage of the nice weather and phenomenal conditions! Tracks were still firm, ample kick, glide was fast as anything I've skied. Hill climbs were awesome, kickable, up hill glide and steady paced herringboning with no slippage. Skate deck was firm and held an edge great. Downhills were fast in and out of the track and controlled. Double poling was 70% of my ski today. Thank you groomers. A strong Birkie is in the making with your consistency thus far this season!

Classic skied 40 something K today. Mixed up the trails from the usual loops. Snow was super fast. Tracks were firm, kick was good with skins, double poling was basically 70% of the technique today. Hill climbs were kickable, or herringboning was doable running up the hills because of the fresh skate deck grooming. Downhills were fast and controlled in the tracks and on the skate deck. I felt like I got up to 35 mph on a few in the tracks. Just a phenomenal ski!! Thank you groomers!

Skied the Jolly long loop and then Northern Lights. There was a bit of fresh snow on top of groomed (slightly crusty from melting on Friday). It was fast and great!

Amy and I skied a bunch of the trails at Mt. Ashwabay, overall the conditions were great! We didn't do any of the classic-only trails, but they looked really good. Abbey Road, Northern Lights, and Buzz all had good tracks, and the skate deck looked amazing - might return in a couple days to skate :) Perfect Toko Red day.
