Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Classic skied 40 + km of trails today. Very good to excellent conditions! The snow is warming up and glide is back! New tracks are awesome on most the trails. Only Jerry's Long loop, part of Northern Lights, part of Seagull and Buzz seemed to be skied in. With that said, those sections were very good, but not as fast of glide. Tips for classic virtual Birkie skier on the course, from a classic skier who has been skiing this just about everyday since Dec 23rd. Once a skier gets to the Deer Path section after the Sugar Shack- Double pole a majority of the time. Stay in the tracks and kick up the Northern Lights hills, this saves time and energy. When you reach the "Summit"- Double pole a majority of the time, there a couple of small hills that may require minimal kicking. When you reach Buzz- Double pole again. Ski on.

Classic skiied 32 km of trails today. Conditions were good for the cold weather we've been having. The classic tracks were ok, mainly because they have been getting wind filled with snow and the lack of numbers of skiiers haven't kept the tracks packed down. This has made the tracks a little soft and slow. The skate deck fairs similar in conditions. Noticed the planned loop map for the virtual Birkie. If a person wants an easy ski with less effort needed, with limited comparison of hill climbs this will be a great option for the virtual Birkie. The loops forgot about awesome hills and scenery on Jerry's Long loop, Deer Path, Oppedahl's Alley, and Sugar Bush. Eitherway, thanks again to the groomers. You rock! Ski on.

Classic skied Sugar Bush and Jolly loops today. The conditions were excellent! Tracks are prefectly groomed. Waxed with the coldest wax in my box, glide was good, and kick was solid everywhere with the temps. Skate deck is solid with a soft touch and fresh corduroy. The grooming staff was diligently grooming the back trails as I skied this afternoon. Another wow, and thank you for grooming in these fridged temps! I'm looking forward to layering up and skiing the back trails!
