All trails have been groomed and tracked. There is a 4-6 inch base and overall the trial is still pretty firm. Tracks set nice with the exception of a few shallow spots under the hemlocks, hopefully they set overnight as temps are predicted to be only in the mid to low 20s. Regardless, the weekend weather looks nice so get out and enjoy the trails!

Excellent conditions at Anvil. Nice fast track and fast conditions. Skied the Nine Mile Lake, Lake Loop, and Devils Run. Lots of skiers enjoying the comfortable temps.

Excellent condition. They were grooming the trails today while we were out there. Skate lane groomed on all trails. Tracks were set on most by the end of the day. The only trail we saw that wasn’t groomed, and didn’t look like it had been in awhile was the Lake Loop although there was good base to make it a decent experience.

After the snow event last week we are working this week to get Anvil trail system packed so that it will hold a good track. With large snow events like we had last week, it is taking more time to pack down the trail and make it suitable for tracks. West trail has been fully packed and tracked. The rest of the trails will be continually gone over until we are happy with the results, hopefully by mid week. Thank you for your understanding as we want to make sure every forest user has the best experience while recreating on public lands.

The trail condition, even though recently groomed, is rough. It has great snow coverage, but it appears the trail was groomed and tracked at the same time without packing the trail first. So the surface was soft and uneven, and the trail was dished in the center. The tracks collapsed some as we classic skied. If more people ski the tracks, they will pack down and make for a smoother ski. This is not a trail to skate ski...the skate deck is way too uneven and narrow, i.e., the classic tracks will be hacked up. It is a wonderfully protected woodsy trail though in windy conditions.

We are happy to report that Anvil Trail is groomed and tracked for the first time this season. Snow levels and conditions are the best they have been all year. With the cold temperatures the trail should set up nicely. Remember trail etiquette and share the tracks and the trail. Have a wonderful weekend of winter activities.

Snow levels and conditions at Anvil are at there best so far this season! We received a couple inches of fresh powder over the weekend which put the trails at an average of 7 inches. No tracks have been set to this point. A reminder if you are hiking the trail or see hikers, please be advised to stick to one side of the trail so the conditions stay favorable for all trail users. Get out and enjoy your public lands!
