Morning
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Wet but firm conditions as we kicked on no wax for a bit at 38F. Plenty of organic material to step around, so we did a fair amount on the skate deck and found that to be cleaner, having been touched up yesterday. Heard from three local lads that did a 2.5 hour pre work skate that they had fun.

Lots to do here. Off on the Wilderness Trail for a bit, and while not a great depth of snow, well done where I skied. Skaters seemed happy too.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I arrived at MWP around 1:00 pm with temperatures around 4 degrees. I skate skied Sleigh Ridge to Nepco's Cruise to access River Run. The skate deck was just a little soft and still in need of some leveling. With that, I would rate overall skate conditions as good. It's the 10K plus length of the trails at MWP including River Run, Wolf Tracks, and Lake Marie that make MWP so utterly awesome! There was very little wind so the cooler temperature was not a problem. I was surprised there were so few skiers. After two hours of skiing and 15 kilometers, the temperature had risen to about 8 degrees. It was another great day of skiing at MWP.

Good and getting better. If you're a skater, most trails were open and either rolled or groomed. If classic, a bit fewer. We skied a Base, Nose Dive on hard, well formed track. On XC Express a bit of rolled before more track led to Nepco and eventually the Wilderness Trail, Cedar and in. Lots of variety to the track as while the base is solid, variability of track depth is to be expected. A great ski, but a few more inches never hurts. I advise B skis, but we're close to your best.

[ Good skis ]
Skied the cookie loop today. The trails were rolled after yesterday's snowfall and had good coverage but no corduroy or tracks. It was a slow march through the trails but still great to be out at MWP in early December.

[ Good skis ]
It was a decent afternoon of early season classic skiing. I skied 15 kilometers. I found classic tracks in about half of that distance. Skiing the portions without a classic track was no problem.

Use good skis everywhere except River Run. Excellent skating deck all over. Most places had good tracks. Lots of snow and beauty everywhere. You will not be disappointed.

Today was the official opening at MWP. Plenty of skiing to be had including the long trail River Run. Wilderness trails were all groomed too with tracks set. No debris to get in your way. The main trails were only tracked where there is enough depth. Check out the new wilderness trails for skijoring, classic skiing, fat biking.

Mighty fine day kicking around! While not everything is open, or tracked, we skied the Wilderness Trail, Cedar Loop, and found it most excellent with good track most of the way. A few thin spots were easily stepped around. The skate deck seemed firm the few times that we stepped out on it. A few locals today we're enjoying the Opener, with more on the way as we departed.
