Last week's heavy snowfall was great news for the Superior trails. All in all, the skate deck is about as good as it has been all season, with little debris (the usual spots) and the even grooming--as we've come to expect from that trail system. On the outer loops my poles occasionally punched through several inches in a number of spots, but conditions were firm enough that my skis didn't sink in much at all. Keep an eye out for equipment-made potholes on the big downhills on the yellow trail--easily avoidable.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Red, Green and Blue trails are all groomed and track set. Yellow and Purple trails are still in process - there is a lot of snow out there to pack so it is taking our crew time to get those trails completed.

Great skating right now. When I was there they were in the process of grooming all the inner trails. Conditions were firm and a tad slow due to cold temps and about 1" of new dry snow. Swix Polar worked really well. The purple connector and yellow had not been groomed yet but were just as good with a nice firm even base. Most of the tree debris was covered but there are still a few little dirty areas in the usual spots. Use your good skis without concern though. Kudos to the City of Superior for their dedicated groomers providing consistently great conditions all season.

Grooming

Ski trails all received 2-3 inches of fresh snow. Groomers were out today and able to get everything groomed and fresh track set. Grooming plans: We will have grooming on Sunday again to keep everything in great skiing conditions!

Joanie and I spent a fun morning here on our first ever visit to these unique trails, which mostly feature lengthy flat sections combined with some steep, mostly straight, downhill plunges. We classic skied the purple and yellow trails, which had great views of cliffs, bays, and ravines. The track was a couple days old, but still in mostly good condition. We then skated the green and red trails, which were being groomed as we skied, so we enjoyed fresh corduroy. All the trails have some scattered debris and thin spots. Thanks for the frequent grooming that is done here!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trail grooming continues to be going really well with everything being freshly groomed and new track set throughout the entire trail system. Base is holding up even with the few warm days but the few inches of snow we received over the weekend helped out a ton and filled in the usual icy patches. Skiers are reporting excellent ski conditions and we hope the weather continues to cooperate!

There were amazing cross country skiing conditions this afternoon in Superior with three inches or so of fresh snow, perfectly groomed trails and ideal temperatures. I classic skied the entire green and the inner purple trails. I can't wait to go again tomorrow.

The new snow did wonders at the Sup-town Muni trails! And, as usual, it's hard to not have fresh cord beneath your skis! Groomers were hard at it when I arrived at 9:30. A few spots where the snow had a bit of dirt in it and the usual pine cone sections. Snow was cold, fresh, and slow. But the skiing was great!
