Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied purple (classic). Classic tracks were good! Was going to do yellow, but someone in an ATV/side by side drove all the way down to the river and back and destroyed the skate and Nordic tracks. Time for some game cams. Thank you groomers for all your hard work!

As usual, great conditions at SMF this morning. Groomed yesterday (you have to give these dedicated groomers a day off, after all). Unfortunately, someone drove an ATV (or some vehicle with big tires) on the flat side of the yellow. I did not venture very far on it, as it was not really skiable with the damage. The hilly side, for the part I skied , was good. The rest of the system was great! Swix Polar again did the job beautifully. Thanks again SMF crew, we appreciate your dedication!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Good skis ]
We skied the yellow this afternoon and it had been freshly groomed. The classic tracks were excellent and firm with good pole plants. The skate deck was good, just a tad soft. Well worth the trip to the Superior Municipal Forest system from anywhere since it's groomed daily and you know what you will get!

I classic skied the yellow trail and it was wonderful. It was firm and fast! All the Superior trails have been groomed and tracked in the last 24 hours. I hopped on the yellow skate deck occasionally to see what that was like and I thought it was quite soft. The classic tracks were perfect. Bundle up and enjoy the trails!

I skated on the red and green trails this afternoon. The grooming was perfect as usual. Both the skate deck and the classic tracks were firm, but due to the very cold temperatures, skating was slower than usual. The classic tracks were fast for double poling. It was still a great ski and workout and the bonus was that the “ski shack” was open at the 28th St. parking lot. It was nice to have a heated area to enjoy before and after skiing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Fresh grooming and track on the red, green, blue and inner purple. Some skate deck grooming is done on the outer purple. Grooming plans: Both the purple and the yellow will be groomed tomorrow. Due to the cold temps and equipment issues we will shift our weekend grooming to Saturday only this weekend.

It was another great day of skiing in Superior! The groomers did a fabulous job today, as they do every day. It is very much appreciated. These trails are amazing and are so much fun. There is a trail for every skier’s skill level. I classic skied the entire green trail system and the inner purple trail this afternoon. The classic tracks were in perfect condition. They were firm and fast. You obviously had to dress in more layers than usual, because of the extreme cold, but it was well worth it! The skate deck was fantastic, too. I used it to herringbone up and descend the steeper hills.

You are never disappointed skiing at SMF. A big thank you to the die hard grooming crew out there as I was greeted with fresh grooming on all the inner trails this AM (the purple connector and yellow were not newly groomed today though). I used my B skis due to scattered thin/dirty areas but you could definitely use your good skis with caution. I believe they easily have the most consistently well groomed conditions in the Twin Ports and the trails are a joy to ski. It was expectedly brisk out their but Swix Polar worked for nicely for glide. Please get out there and support this great trail system and their dedication to top notch trail maintenance. Season passes are very reasonable. Thank you SMF!

It is a treat to head out to a trail and know for sure it will be freshly groomed or at least have been in the past day or so because they groom daily! We classic skied the Red and Green at the Superior Municipal forest and were treated to firm pole plants throughout, solid firm tracks always a pleasure to ski there! Pass prices were raised this year and worth every single penny.

The skate decks were exceptional on the green and outer purple trails! Skating was very smooth and fast! The decks were firm and the snow conditions were perfect. There aren’t any icy spots or debris on the trails, either. The groomers have done a wonderful job over the past week to get the trails in excellent condition. I also did some double poling in the classic tracks and they were nice and firm. They were fast and didn’t have any debris, either.
