I was disappointed at the ski conditions today. Nine Mile got about two inches of snow on Friday - I was there at the time - followed by strong winds. The trails were not groomed overnight, resulting in soft, uneven conditions, lots of sticks and leaves - especially in the classic tracks - and generally fair conditions on what could have been a great ski day if they had groomed. It was a Free Day sponsored by the Marshfield Clinic. Per the desk, it will also be free on Sunday.

Trails all freshly groomed today and are in very good condition. Conditions were fast and firm. After skiing the full alps segment climbed the last hill that probably is not considered to be officially part of the Alps but was rewarded with what I believe to be fresh wolf tracks. Just below shack near the 10 k loop turn on the bushwhacker ridge. This steep climb was the only small section of trail not groomed today (again probably not actually part of the official trail).

Fantastic classic skiing at Nine Mile on Saturday 11 AM - 2 PM. Full coverage for good skis. Tracks were 95% perfect - deep and solid with only a few tricky corners. I had trouble with kick wax on a very few uphills where the trail might have been exposed to warm sun yesterday (e.g. that hill between Main Street and the beginning of the Bushwacker long loop), but kick on all uphills in the shaded woods was solid. Marsh Meadow was amazing. Leo's Loop had some oak leaves to slow me down.

Fantastic ski this late morning. Firm deck with about 2-3 inches of heavy wet snow on top. The groomer was out making it into beautiful white corduroy. Don't know if it gets any better, loving it.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
After receiving about 2" wet snow, the trails are in very good shape. Staff was out grooming early morning into the afternoon. New classic track was put down. Experimental double track on the lighted loop.

The trails were surprisingly good. Firm with good grip and no dirt spots to speak of. I had forgotten how gradual the hills are.

Conditions this morning were very good. The addition of a half inch of medium weight snow on a hard corduroy deck and some trail angels scraping off dirt / gravel spots and filling those areas with clean snow, coordinating with the groomer who has been doing great work has made a big differenc. We used good skis and had zero issues. The best trail was the 'R 'route to the marsh which was fixed up really nice. If any issues, it would have to be the dreaded oak leaves in the tracks.

Trails are in great shape with expert grooming being accomplished by our Marathon County Park Department. Much thanks! Have spotted deer almost every time out this season, finally one waited for me to pass by before running behind me allowing me time to retrieve my fanny pack and camera. Looking forward to just a bit more snow. Very good conditions now.

Areas on the 20k, 10k and 6k loops have been been groomed and gravel is exposed. Care needs to me taken to avoid damage to your skis in various sections of these trails.

Great conditions considering it hasn't snowed in some time. We skied about 20 k and saw about 12 dirt spots that were easy to ski around. The tracks were filled with leaves in some areas due to high wind but those areas were few. All in all, great ski. The 20 k route was just groomed.
