Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We were able to open up some of our trails after the rain and ice. Main Street, the Lighted Loop, Leo's Loop and Y are groomed for skate and tracked for classic. We will again assess the trails tomorrow to see if we can open up more trails. Grooming plans: We will groom Friday morning to carry through the weekend. Please continue to watch the status of the chalet and trails.

Main Street, Lighted Loop and Y had the classic tracks and skate deck reset today. Snow base continues to diminish with warm temps and low snow.

Firsthand: Classic

Excellent conditions. We skied the 6K loop. The tracks were deep, well-set, and simply great. The only inconvenience was the fact that yesterday's winds sent a lot of leaves to the ground, with quite a few in the tracks. The skate deck did not seem to have any though. It was still beautiful and great skiing. Thank you!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Saturday afternoon and again under the lights, then Sunday all-day, and the conditions were great. Perfect deck, and very good classic tracks that were a little icy -- so fast on the flats, sketchy on some downhills, and you were usually better off jumping out for the uphills. We skied the entire complex, most of it several times, and other than some leaf litter, the conditions are as good as you will find, despite the base being only 2-5 inches per the board. Most trails were groomed Saturday morning, and everything except Little Alps was groomed Sunday morning. Was busy early Saturday, but cleared out by about 3 pm. We were the only two skiers out under the lights on a Saturday night, with perfect snow and 26* air, which is inexplicable to me. Sunday was lightly-attended as well, and I skied for over an hour around 3pm without seeing another human.

Having all trails groomed yesterday made for excellent conditions today. Firm and Fast skate deck. Very few oak leaves or debris.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Interior trails groomed early morning to incorporate the inch of snow received Monday. Grooming plans: Grooming/rolling of the entire system will continue throughout the day as new snow is expected late morning into the afternoon. Two operators will be on the system so proceed with caution around grooming equipment.

No grooming today after the snow yesterday? Lots of oak leaves in tracks. It was skiable but I can't say it was good. Too bad - it is the week before the Birkie. Lots of disappointed skiers.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand

Fresh snow from Friday but no grooming. Lots of coverage but lots of leaves in the tracks. Could have been excellent conditions. I asked if they would be grooming this weekend and was told at the desk probably not because of the free days. I would think you'd want to put your best face forward to draw back the skiers.

I was very disappointed with the trails at Nine Mile. I arrived in the morning to find that there had not been any grooming since before Friday afternoon's snowfall. It meant a soft and very slow skate surface and snowed-in classic tracks. I tried skating and found the snow to be very cold and dry with little glide despite using my cold skate skis. I switched to classic and broke trail. I picked up a lot of sticks and branches with some classic tracks having a significant amount of oak leaves. Although I can't complain about free skiing day, it was surprising since I usually find Nine Mile to be well groomed. I called late this afternoon to see if things would be groomed tomorrow and was told probably not. :(.
